Hellzapoppin
Did your friend have a heart attack from drinking that?

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 29/10/2010 23:38

KFC

Offal

Blancmange

Kebabs

Corned beef / Spam

Have eaten lots of the other things mentioned.

hellzapoppin · 29/10/2010 23:48

mummy2bookie - he was fit as a butcher's dog when he was 17! But by the time we were 20 we'd lost touch.

Teenage boys seem to be able to put away anything with no immediate ill effects. Another kid used to buy a whole unsliced loaf from the bakery, scoop out the inside, fill it with crisps and eat the lot.
Every. Single. Day.

He was like a 6ft whippet.

Mind you, I do keep half an eye out for them both on Fat Families now! Grin

Twiceshy · 30/10/2010 00:06

I think there is something wrong with me, there is nothing I would not eat or try at least once.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 30/10/2010 00:58

wtf is blancmange, anyway?

NormalityBites · 30/10/2010 01:09

I don't know Jareth but it's kinda milky and wibbles horrendously Grin

NormalityBites · 30/10/2010 01:11

Google tells me milk and cornstarch. Doesn't it look appetising

JarethTheGoblinKing · 30/10/2010 01:15

I have a horrible feeling it contains animal bones.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 30/10/2010 01:16

[boak]

pippoltergeist · 30/10/2010 01:26

Blancemange is the British equivalent of panacotta.

pippoltergeist · 30/10/2010 01:26

But with more skin...

JarethTheGoblinKing · 30/10/2010 01:31

??? really?

pippoltergeist · 30/10/2010 01:35

With thanks to Wikipedia:

Panna cotta (from Italian cooked cream) is an Italian dessert made by simmering together cream, milk and sugar, mixing this with gelatin, and letting it cool until set.

Blancmange is a sweet dessert commonly made with milk or cream and sugar thickened with gelatin, cornstarch or Irish moss,[1] and often flavored with almonds. It is usually set in a mould and served cold.

So basically exactly the same thing.

Unfortunately the violent pink packet mixes of my youth always had a thick skin on them - although that may just have been my DMs cooking.

Had forgotten about Cheese Whizz - used to love it as a kid smeared on vienna roll. Now the very thought makes me want to heave.

MisSalLaneous · 30/10/2010 11:48

Oh, how can I forget - sheep's head, and to top it all - sheep's eyes. It was apparently a delicacy in the "old days". We were at my grandparents' home for a fancy lunch once, and the platter with something was brought in whilst we were all seated. When they removed the lid, there it was, staring at me! Shock [ewwwww] It was the one and only time ever I got up and walked away halfway through a meal. I still shudder at the thought of it - 25 years later.

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 30/10/2010 12:57

WTF is cheese wizz? SUspect it does not contain cheese... and a vienna roll? (tb, thanks for the weights link on t'other thread btw [hsmile] )

OP posts:
tb · 30/10/2010 15:06

MF - Vienna roll was a bit like a small bloomer, not cooked in a tin, probably dough enriched with milk. A bit like iced bun without the icing. Cheese wizz was bit like thick bought mayonnaise, and a bright orangey colour, vaguely cheese flavoured in the way that only 60s processed shite could be.

Pleasure for the wieghts link - I liked the look of the very expensive ones in the fancy wooden holder.

WhatsThatDuckDoingThere · 30/10/2010 15:07

Pumpkin. I've bought loads of the things, but never has a piece passed my lips.

What does it taste like? I'm imagining something between a parsnip and a carrot?

3thumbedwitch · 30/10/2010 15:11

horse - I've tried most meats but can't bring myself to eat horse, it's just wrong. (yes I know I'm silly)

Eyeballs - gak!

Tripe - double gak!

Jellied eels - never going to happen, I can't abide aspic jelly, have to peel it off anything I find it on.

Witchetty grub - DH had one last summer. It was cooked (bonus, I suppose) and I made the mistake of looking at him while he ate it. Only for a sec though - it turned my stomach.

In fact any kind of insect/grub/worm thing is a serious no-no.

PheasantPlucker · 30/10/2010 15:14

Foie Gras
Veal
Oysters
Mr Brain's Faggots

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 30/10/2010 15:42

What'sthat youu're not far off...maybe more like a sweet potatoe?

OP posts:
MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 30/10/2010 16:19
