My mum used to soak ginger biscuits in rum, then sandwich the whole packet together with whipped cream flavoured with a little more rum, spread the rest of the whipped cream over the top and grate chocolate on for decoration and then chill it until ready to serve.

It was heavenly.

Sherry trifle.

Brown-bread ice cream.

Brandy snaps filled with cream.

I love trifle but might be giving myself too much work to do.

Off topic but does anyone who was at school in the 70s remember a school dinner pudding that had fluffy white stuff in it and cornflakes - it was in layers and it was THE BEST PUDDING EVER.

What was it? It's been driving me mad for 30 years - would love the recipe...

I remember a chewy cornflake thing with pastry and jam. Was your school posh? I am at the fluffy white stuff.
