they may have been around for years with all you knowlegeable lot. but i have only just discovered them.
my mum bought some tesco finest chicken something-or-other. it had them in. then i had a sainsbury's salmon and new pots ready meal thingy that had them in. and i really like them.although i am generally not that keen on beans or pulses.

but when i went to the beans and pulses aisle. none. tinned kidney, butter, etc etc but none of these.
can i buy them in a tin ? fresh ?

and if i was to use them myself would i use cherry tomatoes with them ? chicken ?

am open to all suggestions.

You can buy them frozen - just called soya beans I think. Nice in stir fries and Thai curries.

they are soya beans ? really. but soya are yellow. these are bright green.
if they are soya, it it just someone being poncey giving them the name edamame ?

If in London get yourself to china town - you can pick them up there, or used to be able to from the japan centre, or the Wing Shu supermarket near Staples Corner...

You can get them ready-cooked in Waitrose, alongside the sushi. I love Japanese food - one of my faves! I am going to have a go at making my own sushi this week - never done it before. Yummmmmmmm!

Look in the freezer cabinet... Tesco call them http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=260558656 Soya Beans. They are green when picked for eating fresh but all kinds of colours when used for drying. Like peas... green fresh peas, green dried peas, yellow split peas etc.

Soya Beans

I get them frozen. Sold as soya beans or edamame beans. Tesco and Sainsbo do them and M&S do them either on their own, or in a mixed bag with broad beans and peas, in the frozen veg bit. I absolutely love them too.

I make a delish Moroccan type soup with them, plus tomatoes, chickpeas, chillies and lemon.

edamame is just soya beans. most supermarkets have them frozen in the veg section

I like them in the pods like you get in wagamama.

Yo Sushi and other sushi places do them and they are delicious. You can buy a raw edamame stir fry from Sainsburys.
