never had squash or white bread ..unless french bread counts

use juice as squash in that DS still gets it diluted .. it lasts longer that way and is more thirst-quenching (in fact I can't drink it without water now)

Gobbledigook · 21/08/2005 10:33

We've never had white bread either

We do have squash in the house but the boys generally get fresh juice watered down - same as Twiglett's.

flashingnose · 21/08/2005 10:38

Out of interest, what bread do you give your kids and where do you get it from?

Left it too late with the watered down juice with my kids, so have limited squash to weekends and water during the week - will that do??

we eat brown AND white bread and drink squash - shock horror.

Twiglett · 21/08/2005 12:46

Ds can pester with the best of 'em

I don't eat white bread and never have so I wasn't about to buy it for kids .. they can damn well have what I'm having

roisin · 21/08/2005 12:52

We have white bread and squash Actually we have brown bread too, but the boys refuse to eat it LOL. They do drink juice, water, and smoothies as well though.

Maybe I should go cold turkey on the bread. What do you reckon?

MarsLady · 21/08/2005 13:40

I did that with white rice and pasta. The only one who commented was DD2 who said that she really loves the rice cos it tastes better.

cod, wholemeal by far better than granary which is basically white bread with bits added in (same for 'brown' bread which is white bread coloured brown)...you probably knew that, but i thought i might try to add to your smug quotient.

frannyf · 21/08/2005 13:53

I remember as a child my mum 'weaned' us onto wholemeal pasta, and we all whinged, moaned, and begged until she let us have the white sort again 'for a treat'...the surprise as we realised it tasted completely bland and pappy.

alexsmum · 21/08/2005 13:53

my children sometimes have organic squash.
how's that for smug?

hunkermunker · 21/08/2005 13:55

I loathe squash, always have. Used to ask for water when offered orange or lemon at parties (often parents would've put powdered squash in the bottom of each cup in advance - blee blee blee!). I was an odd child, but that won't surprise any of you
