I wouldn't expect many to recognise me but I just thought I'd say cheerio.

MN is not the place for me anymore.

Recent events have left me completely disillusioned and I just don't have the confidence to post anymore.

I didn't even make it a year! Shame that.

Wishing everyone all the best.

Bye.

I'm loving some of the reasons people have flounced

  • too many fancy emoticons
  • lots of mners being unhappy about a Tory government

and a rather lame (let's be honest) flounce from Peachy. That woman's an addict - she just can't stay away.

Dumbledoresgirl · 05/10/2011 15:45

Harrumph. I bet if I started a thread in flouncer's corner saying I was off, the only response I would get is someone saying "thought there was a funny smell around here".

You are clearly well-liked Velvet (deregging doesn't stop you from reading MN). Don't let the buggers grind you down. Smile

ConstanceNoring · 05/10/2011 15:52

Thanks Pinot, you are very helpful Wink

Shame, hope she comes back soon having realised we're not such a bad bunch.

BardyMa! Like it.

DreamsOfSteam · 05/10/2011 16:00

Pinot If your in contact with velvet, can't you try to convince her that she is well loved here, and to come back with a name change

Pinot · 05/10/2011 16:02

I'll message her again with a link to this thread. Tis a good idea, Dreams :)

What steam is it you're dreaming of, if I may be so bold as to ask? Steam trains? Facial steaming to open pores to assist blackhead degunking? Steaming Brew ?

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2011 16:08

I agree with Dumbledoresgirl ...

{grin]

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2011 16:08

Sorry for the lop-sided Grin

DreamsOfSteam · 05/10/2011 16:12

It has a few variations. I am involved with steam traction engine and fairground scene and steam trains but I try to ignore that if possible I am also quite partial to a steamy dream of the bedtime variety so it works well on that side aswell, also will never turn down a steamy Brew

Pinot · 05/10/2011 16:15

Oh it speaks volumes that I negated to provide a steamy dream option.

DreamsOfSteam · 05/10/2011 16:18

aww, I feel sorry for you now. Everyone needs a steamy dream in their life. perhaps too much pinot before bed it to blame. Grin

TheRhubarb · 05/10/2011 16:19

Ah, what she posted on Facebook, doesn't that sound awfully familiar? To some Christmas scandal?

You know velvet - ok I don't know you, but I learnt a harsh lesson from Mumsnet. These people are not friends. They don't know you from Adam and the people who are being all nice and friendly one minute can turn into your worst enemy the next. I had one Mumsnetter who used to MSN me and I stupidly told her some family background and a bit about my depression. When I disagree with her on a thread she used that to question my sanity and therefore my argument and before I knew it, her other friends were employing the same tactics. I later learnt that she copied MSN chats and shared them amongst others.

Another friend whom I had met in real life turned against me because of a run-in she had with Custy regarding a certain mouldies group. I got a very long and very nasty email from her accusing me of all sorts and it was mainly this response that changed my mind from not being arsed about the stupid private group to being very vocal about it.

Now what I do is to keep my private identity very private. I do not befriend Mumsnetters on Facebook, I do not reveal my name and when I do (like at meet-ups) it is my maiden name. Because it's a horrible thing to happen and leaves you feeling vulnerable and foolish. But believe me, I've been there and so have a lot of other people. Yet there is a lot of love and kindness on Mumsnet that outweighs the bad.

Get back to your real life, then when you're feeling stronger re-join under a different name, like VelvetSnow0 Wink.
Hope you're feeling better about it all soon.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 05/10/2011 16:38

Most MNers are MN Friends with each other, Rhubs. It's only the unpopular ones who aren't.

My MN Friend count is currently at 653.

Did I tell you you have a lovely, unsundamaged decolletage btw?
