We're a bit of a cliche really.

I don't like loud bangem crashem shootemups or horrors.

He doesn't like costume dramas or chick flicks.

Neither of us like arthouse and tend not to go for most foreign films.

Stuff we do like: Comedies, good family action flicks, whodunnits, fun quirky stuff.

Me and DH got out Vantage Point on dvd last weekend and both loved it. It is a longish film, but felt like 20 mins as it was so intense.

themoon66 · 23/08/2008 20:55

Oh.. its a whodunnit/why did they do it sort of film.

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 20:57

Little Miss Sunshine. funny & quirky.

Bourne Ultimatum (or any of the Bourne films) great action films not too shootemup.

zippitippitoes · 23/08/2008 20:57

the green mile

stand by me

john malkovich

cyteen · 23/08/2008 20:58

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - it's a fun, quirky whodunnit.

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:00

Adaptation - funny & weird & Meryl Streep not singing.

Sideways - funny, wine based

MerryMarigold · 23/08/2008 21:00

No country for old men

Or most of the Coen Brothers others films

I am exactly the same, can't touch a horror movie or overly violent films. But even though there is violence in those films, they are so clever, for some reason I can handle it better.

Oh definitely Little Miss Sunshine, slubber - another fav of mine and dh's (and we have it as Asda had it for a fiver!).

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:02

Oh yes, Coen Brothers movies. Oh Brother Where Art Thou - excellent film. brilliant soundtrack

zippitippitoes · 23/08/2008 21:03

i havent seen it but i have had 40 year old virgin recommended to me

MerryMarigold · 23/08/2008 21:13

slubber, we have the same taste. i have the soundtrack and the movie!

Eddas · 23/08/2008 21:18

Hot Fuzz
Johnny English
Dodgeball

I second the 'Bourne' films.

How about the 'oceans' films. I like them all, most people don't seem keen on ocean's twelve, but I like it.

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:19

Oh me too. I used to play it all the time when dd1 was a baby and carry her round singing to her.

God I'm in a funny mood tonight. The very thought of 'Down in the River' is making me a bit misty eyed.

Superbad is anvery funny movie. It shouldn't be, it's very crass and blokey and non pc but it made me LOL a lot.

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:20

anvery should be a very. Can't see for the welled up eyes

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:21

Dodgeball is great too.

Eddas · 23/08/2008 21:22

Saw is pretty good, I didn't like saw 2. But it it's quite bloody/gorey. But a good who dunnit

Oh and shawshank Redemption is a must see IMO

As is Philadelphia (excuse the spelling!)

I do love films

There's one that I just cannot remember the name of but it's stars Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington which is fab IMO.

MerryMarigold · 23/08/2008 21:23

I've never heard of Superbad.

Matrix films? Not seen the last one, but liked the first one, and second one is ok.

Eddas · 23/08/2008 21:23

Mr and Mrs smith is quite good

shall i stop now

Eddas · 23/08/2008 21:27

The Bone collector (angelina and denzel) very good who dunnit

The Usual Suspects, with Kevin Spacey, another good who dunnit

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:31

Superbad is from the same team that did 40 year old Virgin and Knocked Up. The best of the three imo but it is quite laddish. I was LOLing but DH was clutching his sides and doing a wee bit of roffling in the cinema.

Eddas · 23/08/2008 21:32

I think superbad sounds like something dh and I should watch

Slubberdegullion · 23/08/2008 21:34

The Usual Suspects is a classic. Everyone should have watched it, even to get the Keyser Soze references.

Bewilderbeast · 23/08/2008 21:35

run fat boy run - hilarious will make you laugh lots

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/08/2008 21:35
