Just saw this at cinema with 11 yo DD. Very funny and easy to watch we thought. DD chuckled throughout. Plus it's short compared to some films. Good to see a film without lots of action and fancy locations.

Cinema half empty on a sat afternoon despite it being a PG and raining. Guess it's difficult to market it as adults AND kids.

FWIW the worst thing was someone said 'shit' in an advert prior to the film.

That's good to hear. Think DD will like it so will have to arrange to take her. She is 12

We saw it this afternoon, and I'd happily take a pre-teen. I've read the book, and was wondering how close the storyline would be, but, as I thought, the suicide and drugs running had been removed, and I felt it worked as a light hearted comedy, albeit about a murder.

We saw it this morning with DC (11 & 7) - all really enjoyed it, funny, sad in places & just light, a nice family film.
Cinema was nearly full. Oh & we saw that trailer & everyone laughed at the ‘its shit’ 😂

Yep we all laughed as well.

I've bought the book so going to read it tonight.

There's a good amount of preteen and teen girls reading murder mysteries at the moment so it will definitely appeal to them as well as old uns like me.

We’ve see it this afternoon with a very nearly 10 year old. All enjoyed it.

Onceuponatimethen · 04/05/2026 17:40

Went down well with my tween and even my teen who came along for the ride.

Appalonia · 04/05/2026 17:43

I saw a trailer for this and thought it looked great!

XMissPlacedX · 04/05/2026 18:27

We went today with our dc and really enjoyed it 😊

XMissPlacedX · 04/05/2026 18:28

Also, DH wants to now see He-Man after seeing the trailer

Imdunfer · 04/05/2026 18:33

Two adults, saw it today. Lovely little film, not a bad whodunnit, either.

mum2jakie · 04/05/2026 19:25

Went this afternoon with adult sons to cheap showing. All enjoyed it. Warning to those of those of you with very young kids. Two little kids on front were sobbing their hearts out at one of the scenes!

Sproutling · 04/05/2026 19:33

We went this afternoon- cinema was full, no youngsters in our screening, lol. Thoroughly enjoyed it, easy watching, charming, poignant , and -spoiler skip if you are going......

now we know why the chicken crossed the road lol

Ha are you me @XMissPlacedX

My dp also now wants to see He Man!

Bimbil19 · 04/05/2026 22:51

Took my super sharp 6 year old yesterday and he absolutely loved it! Great intro to whodunnits, not scary and explored such important themes. We belly laughed and sobbed. Whole family loved it.

Onceuponatimethen · 04/05/2026 23:01

@Bimbil19 yes agree there was really deep content here.

tilypu · 05/05/2026 07:37

It was very enjoyable.

You do have to just go with the things that just weren't logical (and I'm not talking about that the sheep were investigating a crime 😂), but I won't go into detail as one would be a fairly major spoiler.

But it was a silly, fun film and I would definitely recommend it.

VividDeer · 05/05/2026 07:42

Ah good. Seen the trailers a few times and kids are keen

Shmithecat2 · 10/05/2026 19:36

Took 10yo ds to see this today, we both loved it. Wish I'd taken some tissues though, both ds and I got a bit teary at some points, and I was a bit of an emotional mess at the end 😳

rookiemere · 10/05/2026 20:46

It was a bit like the Thursday Murder Club - with sheep ! Not sure what accent Hugh Jackman was attempting , but he didn’t succeed. I cried a lot at the end, it was quite sad and there was an unexpectedly violent bit in the middle. Nothing as bad as Watership Down which scarred me for life, but still a bit of a shock.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2026 18:12

Really enjoyed it. Wanted to laugh out loud at some of it. I’m
sure the church was in a couple of Poirot episodes. (David Suchet ones) not sure if that was just coincidence or deliberate.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2026 18:14

The American style police hat annoyed me though. It would have been much better with an English one.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2026 18:15

I never guessed who it was! 😂

It was a joke! All the shops had neon signs then at one point they walked past a Neon sign shop and it had a neon sign saying something like 'Generous discounts for local businesses'.
I loved this film and so did my DD 7. Was blubbing at various points though.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2026 20:49

Missed that bit. 🤣
