I was disappointed! Bits were good and I thought it was ramping up to being actual peaky blinders but it never happened. Tommy arriving in Birmingham felt like it was happening but nope.

I love Barry Keoghan but not in this, it was all wrong!

When Aunt Polly died I was in pieces but nothing for Ada and Tommy, it just wasn’t done well.

Tim Roth was great though!

Yes! Exactly. A slow build up, that grand entrance horse ride and then it just fizzled.

I liked the small details that came up - like the boat that Stagg was on that exploded first was the January - which is the boat that Curly took Tommy to London on in the first series. It was a bit slow for me, but it ended in the the only way it could I think.

Yep, I liked those touches. And I agree, reluctantly, that perhaps it did have to end like that, but it could have been a better story on the way!

I thought set / costume design / camera work and lighting etc were great.

Thats the best I can say for it.

Barry was diabolical. The accent... e-gad....
Tommy shelby could never have produced an offspring like him

Tommy's stroy line haunted by ghosts was cool.
The rest of it was lazy AF.

They did Ada a massive dirty - why even bother casting / showing her son he was pointless.
I could go on ... it had potential but was a really 4.5 out of 10....

I agree. Very disappointing, though as someone said upthread watching CM being moody for a couple of hours is no hardship. Apparently the pig shit/mud was real. It all got a bit lost in a confusing and badly thought out plot, but I agree that the ending was moving and dramatic, and nicely echoed the ending of the series, but without the white horse.

I started watching it last night, so disappointed. It’s dreary for want of a better word. The script is less clever and lacks punch. I’ll plough through it because it’s Cillian Murphy, and I could sit and watch him read the weather forecast on a loop!

Never thought I’d react like this. Peakys is my favourite series ever. After an hour I started rewatching series two, the difference is mind blowing, pacy, funny, sad … the film is so lack lustre in comparison.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/03/2026 07:17

Has CM’s accent improved at all?

No.

The ending felt right to me, and it made me emotional 🥹

I was sad about Arthur and dont believe that would of happened

wish there could of been an explanation re Finn.

I found Rebecca Fergusons character annoying

I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm now re watching the whole six series

No.

I thought as much. It puts me off watching any of it.

FurForksSake · 27/03/2026 22:25

BK was awful, just exhaustingly mid. I wanted to love it. It was a bit crap. I might try a rewatch.

It was ok, I missed any strong female characters. Rebecca Ferguson’s character was ok, Ada didn’t last long and there weren’t any others.
It really was the only ending for Thomas Shelby but they could have got to it in a more rounded storyline.
I agree Tim Roth was great.

watched it last night. have to agree it was missing strong females. Duke was woefully miscast......and why do they all mumble so much. had to have the volume up as high as it would go.
I ended up caught up in wondering why all those young ment were not fighting in the war!
still worth it all to see Tommy on horse back.

MaggieFS · 03/04/2026 23:55

A new person for Duke! And confirmed it’s set in the 50s, not preceding the film, sadly. I don’t think I’ve seen Jamie Bell in anything.

New Peaky Blinders TV series set to star Jamie Bell

Peaky Binders creator Steven Knight confirms stars of the new TV series that will be set in the 1950s.

Jamie Bell was Billie Elliot. He’s gone on to do well and I’d happily watch him I think. As long as he’s not hammy!

angelofmydreams1981 · 04/04/2026 12:52

there is no way Tommy would kill Arthur, no chance.

also I don’t think Duke would have shot his father.

it just didn’t have depth. The actor playing Duke was just wrong - weird twin sex too with gypsy incantations. Writing the book on the narrow boat… so much wrong. Just like basic level script… the strange English Nazi - the fake notes / just all wrong wrong!

Very disappointing, some great actors wasted in this rubbish storyline, clearly left loose ends to drag out the next series.

Perfidia · 04/04/2026 13:41

One can only hope Steven Knight wrote this second rate fare because he’s saving all the good stuff for the revived TV series? I do see that might be a strong motivation.

Ugh I've just watched this and it was one of the worst films I've ever seen! I was so disappointed.
The actor that plays Arthur was done for drug possession and has erm, had a bit of a breakdown. I think they just had to tie up the ends. I loved Arthur but he was an absolute liability!
DH and I were laughing at the nazi, shouting heil Hitler and speaking german at the Liverpool docks 🤣 very undercover! The whole thing lacked depth. I loved that they got Johnny Dogs, Charlie and Curly back but no way would they be on a job at their age. The lack of extras was laughable especially at the morgue. Literally no staff, no one in the streets etc. it all just felt very low budget and served no purpose other than to off Tommy and tie up all the loose ends.
