DH is a bigger fan than me and we watched it last night. He found it a bit underwhelming. Tim Roth was excellent, as always.

DurhamDurham · 22/03/2026 13:36

It was ok, I missed any strong female characters. Rebecca Ferguson’s character was ok, Ada didn’t last long and there weren’t any others.
It really was the only ending for Thomas Shelby but they could have got to it in a more rounded storyline.
I agree Tim Roth was great.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 22/03/2026 15:09

Just watched it, I thought the ending was both fitting and moving. I agree it was missing a strong female lead, with Ada going out so early on. I actually thought Barry Keoghan was well cast. I am a big fan of Conrad Khan and was originally sad he isn't playing Duke in the film, but having watched it, I think they did need someone older and grittier like Barry.

My dh was on the construction team for the build, can't wait to see it! And his name on the credits!

I thought set / costume design / camera work and lighting etc were great.

Thats the best I can say for it.

Barry was diabolical. The accent... e-gad....
Tommy shelby could never have produced an offspring like him

Tommy's stroy line haunted by ghosts was cool.
The rest of it was lazy AF.

They did Ada a massive dirty - why even bother casting / showing her son he was pointless.
I could go on ... it had potential but was a really 4.5 out of 10....

Nofksleft2give · 22/03/2026 15:24

Agree. I thought the cinematography was great. It looked like a film, not a tv episode. There was not much depth to the plot but it did tie up some loose ends.

NellieJean · 22/03/2026 15:27

Watched last night I’ll be generous and give it 3/5. I’m glad we didn’t waste £30 seeing it in a cinema. If that’s the last of it then it’s a shame to go out on a low.

TikTokker · 22/03/2026 15:30

Oh it was disappointing for me. A massive waste of some really well developed characters. Barry was dire. What the fuck was the accent?

JasonTindallsTan · 22/03/2026 15:33

We watched last night. It was ok. No mention of Finn though. Thought that was a bit odd.

I wondered about Finn too. I wish they'd put something in about him, even if it was just a reference or a cameo at the funerals. But I suppose that storyline had already been closed with him being banished. Apparently the actor who plays him wasn't keen on being in the film though, for fear of being pigeonholed at an early age.

JasonTindallsTan · 22/03/2026 15:57

He wasn’t even in any of the pictures and there was mention of them now all being gone, as if Finn just never even existed.

WeepingAngelInTheTardis · 22/03/2026 15:59

I can honestly say Peaky Blinders didn’t need a film, it was crap.

Goldenboysmum · 22/03/2026 16:06

Watched this on Friday, was so looking forward to it.

Kept thinking stay with it, it'll get better but what a waste of time! It has to be one of the most boring films I've ever watched. So disappointed!

Deerinflashlights · 22/03/2026 16:14

A game of two half’s for me.

Dreadful half assed version of a redemption arc for Tommy Shelby as if he needed one. For me good casting of Barry Keighan, he is very edgy as a person and Duke was well past edgy.

Very weak cast of characters with the exception of Tommy and short lived Ada.

Story was very poor.

But Cillian, ah Cillian, ah Tommy Shelby, he was outstanding.

Jellybelly80 · 22/03/2026 16:14

Soulhorse · 14/03/2026 20:23

I thought the son was abysmally cast and the story a bit far fetched to be honest. However, watching Cillian Murphy for 2 hours is no hardship!

The actor was quite the let down.

There’s supposed to be a sequel set in the 1950s, though of course that won’t feature Tommy (unless he does a Dirty Den)

roseymoira · 22/03/2026 17:32

It was so boring, what a let down

geminicancerean · 22/03/2026 18:20

I groaned aloud when Rebecca Ferguson (woefully underused) said she was his former lover’s twin. Ada died for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Why was Charles just ‘away at war’ - their relationship would have been much more interesting to explore. I felt like production prob had 2 or 3 filming days with Cillian so they had him wandering around that house for half of them, and in tunnels for the other half. Very little action. Christ it was awful.

Charles should have been the son rather than Duke who was thrown in out of nowhere. I get they wanted the Gypsy queen link but was it actually important to the plot?

Rebecca Ferguson’s character seemed pointless to me. Just an excuse to have a sex scene.

They just shouldn’t have bothered with this film. Either do a full series to wrap it up properly or don’t bother. I thought the endings for Arthur and Ada were lazy and why no Lizzie?

Perfidia · 22/03/2026 18:42

Arthur was my favourite. I didn’t believe the story they wrote for him, and I didn’t feel the show worked without the layer of complexity he brought to it.

Ha ha! I went to a crew screening once (early Saturday morning in Leicester Square Odeon) and everyone was totally glued to the credits

RipplePlease · 22/03/2026 18:56

Watched this last night on Netflix.
Disappointing.

corblimeyguvnr · 23/03/2026 07:12

We watched this last night. How disappointing was it ? Slow to start with and then just painful. I don't like Barry Keoghan anyway so that just added pain to my misery. Not a patch on the series.

Dobequiet · 23/03/2026 07:35

I was disappointed! Bits were good and I thought it was ramping up to being actual peaky blinders but it never happened. Tommy arriving in Birmingham felt like it was happening but nope.

I love Barry Keoghan but not in this, it was all wrong!

When Aunt Polly died I was in pieces but nothing for Ada and Tommy, it just wasn’t done well.

Tim Roth was great though!

Twpsaesneg · 23/03/2026 08:13

I liked the small details that came up - like the boat that Stagg was on that exploded first was the January - which is the boat that Curly took Tommy to London on in the first series. It was a bit slow for me, but it ended in the the only way it could I think.

RipplePlease · 23/03/2026 09:01

Tim Roth didn’t look like he’d aged a day!
