Never read the book or seen it on screen. So many TV and film adaptations 🤔

Which adaptation do you think is the best?
Is it close to the book?

The Timothy Dalton version is good, he's a great heathcliff, suitably moody and dangerous.

I didn't see the one where Matthew Macfadyan was Hareton so I'm going to see how I might see that. Seen little Youtube snaps only.

The Ralph Fiennes/Juliette Binoche version. It covers the whole book and shows Cathy and Heathcliff to be as cruel as they were in the book. Also Ralph Fiennes is insanely hot as Heathcliff. It's my favourite book, I've watched all versions and none of them are perfect but that's the best one.

Yes! I love this version and still have it on DVD! I know it got panned but it thought it was fabulous.

Despite Cathy and Catherine both having strong French accents?

Yes 🙂 the score, the cinematography, and the cast makes up for it.

Cathy's all wrong, she's not a simpering giggling girl, she loses her temper and hits Linton before they marry. The rest of the cast isn't bad though but you need more odlf the moors to get the barren wilderness of the backdrop. They lived for going out together on the moors.

I watched the Olivier version because it gets such great reviews but half the blimmin' book is missing and it's a very sanitised account of it!
