This is back in cinemas, recording of a national theatre show featuring Jodie Comer. I went to see it the other night.

I thought while the script was a bit cumbersome in places, and some of the lighting/music were a bit jarring, JC was absolutely outstanding. She kept the whole cinema on the edge of their seats.

Anyone else seen it?

Yes I saw it last night. JC is indeed outstanding- I was absolutely captivated, so emotional.

I saw it last night, I thought JC was astonishing. Her energy and stamina floored me!

I saw it at the theatre when it first came out. We were spell-bound. Not a dry eye in the house. She must have been exhausted doing that every night. She was incredible.

I saw it at the Harold Pinter last year …..there was no interval ….just start to finish intensity …..everyone walked out a bit shell shocked…..it was outstanding

Incredible performance. I can't imagine how Jodie felt performing it once, let alone night after night.

And a very powerful difficult play that tackles rape, sexual assault & the courts head on.

It’s an extraordinary performance. I don’t think anyone who has seen it could fail to be affected by it. And a very important topic.

JS is phenomenal !

I'm seeing it this weekend. I can't get anyone to go with me, so I'm going alone. It's a shame I won't be able to 'de-brief' afterwards.

I do agree i felt a bit shell shocked. I think if you've experienced any kind of male violence it definitely hits hard. I didn't know what to say or think afterwards. You could've heard a pin drop at certain points.

I've never seen an acting performance like it.

I left slack-jawed after watching this via NT Live at my local cinema. She's such a talent - I would say she's at the stage of doing no wrong when it comes to acting.

Also no idea how she did it night after night. So much energy and passion.

I saw a clip of her backstage before a show, the stage manager would do a crazy dance with her just before she went on stage to get the nerves out.

Totally agree it's an astonishing performance and piece of writing. I've been thinking about it a lot today with the Edinburgh Rape Crisis story being in the news, as one of the play's messages is that a woman's experience of rape is always framed by men's perspective, and how vital the support and sisterhood of other women is to survivors.

Apparently the play is being used to being about change in the way the legal system handles rape though. This is from an interview in the Guardian

Real change is starting to happen. Watching a film recording of the play is now mandatory for all newly appointed judges in Northern Ireland, and a screening was put on for 3,000 police officers in North Yorkshire, followed by a discussion of how they log reports of sexual assault.

I didn't find it an enjoyable watch exactly but I'm very glad to have seen it.

I took my 17 year old DD to see it last night after I listened to the audiobook. I thought it was something she should see. JC is absolutely incredible isn't she? For so many reasons in this.

That is great news. Absolutely should be shown to all police forces.

Saw this last night. Can't stop thinking about it. Jodie Comer was outstanding.

It's still on my mind as well. I'm watching killing Eve and her range is amazing.

What a powerful, incredible performance. The story punches hard. I'm so pleased it is being used by schools, colleges and organisations in a positive way.

Jodie is amazing. She deserves all the accolades. I don't know how she has the energy, stamina, resilience to deliver this with such emotion.

She reminds me of Maxine Peak. I've always admired Maxine and some of her performances have stayed with me for many years.

There was a series of standalone women-led dramas on tv about 15, maybe 20 years ago. All of them were incredible (one of which starred Maxine) but one about coercive control and abuse has stuck in my memory. The woman was being abused by her husband until one day she snapped and attacked him. The court had sympathy for her but she was jailed, despite being pregnant. Tragically she was jailed for 1 month longer than the maximum sentence she could receive and be allowed to have her baby stay with her in the mother & baby unit within prison. I've never seen such raw despair acted before. I'm certain that Prima Facie will have an equally strong impact on me.

I saw it in the Harold Pinter back in 2022 and then again last night at the cinema and it’s just as incredible and shell shocking a second time.

Her level of commitment to the role is incredible and must have been exhausting. The first time I saw it I honestly couldn’t speak for the first five minutes because I had so much to process mentally.

Incredible performance. The bit at the end when she is talking about how common rape is and says directly to the audience 'look to your left, look to your right'...that had me in tears and lots of other women too. That cut me to the quick.

I saw it in 2022 and again last week. It’s a phenomenal piece of acting and I rave about it to everyone.

The most incredible performance. I'd love to see it again. Been thinking about going to the cinema to see it.

i thought the script was inept but JC was astounding. She had to work so hard to lift the material. If the playwright won awards it was all down to JC. Brilliant performer! I know she is young but she deserves to be Dame Jodie.

I saw it when it was first in the cinema, and at the ripe old age of 45, it started my love of theatre.
I've seen 15 plays/musicals/opera since, most on the West end.
