Would you?

Yes! It was my favourite film from about age 9…

Chugnut · 27/07/2024 22:53

Yes

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 27/07/2024 22:54

Yes, it’s shit though.

Pigeonqueen · 27/07/2024 22:54

Yes - it was my favourite film as a young child (!) but I think a modern day 11 year old would be bored really; it’s a very “old” style film now. The Meg would be better!

LateDecemberLove · 27/07/2024 22:54

My son is obsessed with shark films and first saw Jaws at about 7.
If it gets scary you could turn it off

Thebigfriendlymoth · 27/07/2024 22:54

Yeah, tried mine on it but he got bored. He liked The Meg though 🫣

Yes it is fine .

Eggseggslegs · 27/07/2024 22:55

My son saw it aged about 9 or 10, thought it was funny!!

OneBlueQuail · 27/07/2024 22:57

why? Only you have knowledge of their personal maturity too ...

feelinglight · 27/07/2024 22:57

Wow, unanimous yes! God I'm too overprotective 🤦‍♀️. I watched it when I was 9 and was my favourite film. DS wanted to watch it tonight but I was reluctant - more so that don't want him to be scared of the water. It scared at times when swimming 🤣

Well, I remember seeing it in film club in my last year of primary school so unless my DC was of a particularly nervous disposition I would. I remember reading the book around that age too and loving it.

Marblessolveeverything · 27/07/2024 22:57

Yes think my youngest saw it at seven and cracked up when he saw the fish.

LBFseBrom · 27/07/2024 22:59

Yes I would.

Interesting point...that might be why I am hesitant. He is very mature in other ways and started watching the first 40 mins. He actually liked the whole storyline with Brody etc...but I wasn't sure about rest with limbs coming off etc...not sure he was ready for that.

Definitely. It's not very realistic!

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 27/07/2024 23:00

Yep. 👍 it was a PG until recently!

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 27/07/2024 23:02

Absolutely. I can remember when I first watched it . I was about 6 years old. Same with Posidien Adventure.. Another one I watch for nostalgia
My children whom the eldest is 27 has fond memories of Jaws from a young age
Iconic movies .. they don't make them like they used to

sleekcat · 27/07/2024 23:11

I watched lots of things I found scary when I was young. There didn't seem to be the same thoughts around it, also we only had one TV which was on until my parents went to bed and so we just saw whatever was on it if we were in the room. I remember being scared by Ted Bundy and Psycho as I'd gone to bed late for some reason, but still carrying on watching anyway! But we watched Jaws as a family and my sister was probably about 6!

Livinginaclock · 27/07/2024 23:12

Yes, Dd saw it at about 8 and loved it.

WouldUSayImWorthy · 27/07/2024 23:13

Yeah, but it's really boring!

My 11 year old just watched Scream and absolutely loved it.

Hangingupnow · 27/07/2024 23:16

Jaws is a classic, mine have watched it.

TwoBlueFish · 27/07/2024 23:17

Jaws freaked me out as a child, watched it from behind the sofa about 40 years ago. My sister would do the jaws music in bed (3rd story in London) and I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed 😂

saw it again recently and the effects are so bad!

DarkDarkNight · 27/07/2024 23:18

Yes, I think lots of films lose their impact over time and what was once scary seems silly now. Probably to do with the dodgy special effects.

Hangingupnow · 27/07/2024 23:24

the effects are bad but for me it was all about the suspense.

Groovester · 27/07/2024 23:24

Can’t believe how many say it’s rubbish or boring. It’s a cinematic masterpiece!
