How can I get my 6ft, 14 year old son in to a fifteen certificated film at the cinema?

Some ideas others have come up-

Make him non-binary or disabled, people will not have the brass-neck to question his identity.

Slip the person a tenner.

Give him a fake beard a mask to put on?

No one will check if he is 6ft.

ReleasetheCrackHen · 03/08/2023 21:57

You don’t need to do anything. The age is for unaccompanied children.

Forgot to mention, he has got a baby face.

Unless your 14 year old looks about 6, you’re massively over thinking this.
No one will check.

NuffSaidSam · 03/08/2023 21:59

Just walk past. I can't imagine anyone will give a tiny shit about you taking a 14 year old to a 15 film!

No it’s not.

MontyDontysLinenTrousers · 03/08/2023 21:59

Does he have hollow legs?

That's only for 12 certificates, not 15 or 18.

DivingForLove · 03/08/2023 22:00

@ReleasetheCrackHen no it isn’t!! You can’t get kids into 15 films unaccompanied - they need ID to prove they’re 15. I’ve had lots of friends turned away with their kids because they don’t have ID. Cinemas are much stricter now - certainly where I live.

skgnome · 03/08/2023 22:01

Chances are no one will ask
but be prepared to be challenged and if you cannot produce an ID he won’t get in
im assuming if he’s with a parent they are less likely to challenge than if he was with his mates

DivingForLove · 03/08/2023 22:01

@NuffSaidSam they absolutely do! We were asked for ID and our kids were refused entry when we couldn’t provide it!

LanaDelRaybans · 03/08/2023 22:01

Step one, get a long massive coat
Step two, put him on your shoulders
Step three, walk in to cinema like a boss

WunWun · 03/08/2023 22:01

Is this in reference to something else?

ProudThrilledHappy · 03/08/2023 22:01

Is it Oppenheimer? My ds (also 14) wants to see it but our local cinema has put a notice on their website advising they will check ID for young ticket holders, so we are going to have to wait for it to hit home streaming unfortunately

DivingForLove · 03/08/2023 22:02

@Hannahsbananas they DO check!!! I’m guessing none of you have tried this recently 🤦‍♀️

DivingForLove · 03/08/2023 22:02

@ProudThrilledHappy thank you - felt like I was talking to myself for a while there 😄

They might be suspicious of a 11 - 12 ft person walking in 😆

No, I haven’t, true.
A 6ft 14 year old can’t look a kick in the arse away from 15, though?

Justwingingit2005 · 03/08/2023 22:04

My tall 14 yr old wants to see Oppenheimer. Our local cinema is apparently cracking down on ages so looks like we are waiting.

CatsSnore · 03/08/2023 22:04

The cinemas have really got petty with this in the last few years. It's very frustrating.

You could get him a citizenship card. It's a valid form of ID and will be accepted.

Odd, my youngest is 19. Is this a post-covid really recent thing? I knew you needed ID for the 18 ones, but had no issues with the 15 ones. Most 15yr olds do not have photo ID…

CatsSnore · 03/08/2023 22:05

Or take his passport. A citizenship card is much cheaper than a passport if he hasn't got one already.

historyrepeatz · 03/08/2023 22:05

If it is Oppenheimer you might not want to watch with your 14 year old even if you are happy for him to see it. I don't want so sit next to DC watching nude Florence ride Cillian on the big screen.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 03/08/2023 22:05

Is it a multi screen. Could you get a ticket to see barbie then accidentally wander into the wrong screen?

Ah.. Good point
