having enjoyed thinking of all the bad films I've seen, I'd love to know what film do you still watch, even though you know the script off by heart?
Grand Budapest Hotel for me (even though I really dislike the rest of Wes Anderson's films)

I could watch Interstellar or Inception over and over again, actually, same with The Batman Dark Knight Trilogy - all great films with tonnes to think about technical aspects of how they were made, even once you get your head around the plot paradoxes

Akira just for the sheer scale and vision and for the fact it was so ahead of its time, 373 colours (including 50 specially made) on 172,000 hand-drawn animation cells, taking 3 years to draw.... On a similar theme - Spirited Away - simply beautiful.

Controversial - Star Wars Rogue One - in my opinion the best (by a country mile) of the 'new' films, that's perfectly paced, well acted, introduces Vader and was much grittier than its predecessors.

About Time, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Blind Side and Mean Girls are the ones I seem to go back to time after time. Comfort food in film form.

Law Abiding Citizen!

My particular comfort rewatch kink is muted, unplotty French stuff from my student days, so the Three Colours trilogy, La Double Vie de Véronique, Trop Belle Pour Toi, Un Coeur en Hiver, L’appartement, La Belle Noiseuse etc. Films where Juliette Binoche/Daniel Auteuil/Emannuelle Béart stares off into the distance a lot. Grin I can pretty much recite the dialogue of Cyrano de Bergerac (and am wondering if the new version with Peter Dinklage can in any way approach it…)

The Bridges of Madison County. Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood at their finest.

Office Space.

I need to watch Trainspotting. It's not from my era but my mum claims it's a bloody brilliant movie. She's never been wrong when it comes to TV show/movie recommendations. Child-free until tomorrow afternoon so I'm settling down with a nice cuppa and gonna watch it online (legally, of course!) 🤨🙄

lavender2022 · 06/02/2022 11:29

I also love Darren Aronofsky. I think he is an incredible writer/director. 'Mother!' is an incredible movie.

lavender2022 · 06/02/2022 11:31

Also 'Requiem for a Dream'. Excellent movie. Although not for the faint-hearted. Brilliant message.

I'm almost envious of you getting to watch that for the first time. I've seen it multiple times and could happily watch it again.
Mrsjayy · 06/02/2022 12:13

lavender2022 · 06/02/2022 12:16

lavender2022 · 06/02/2022 12:17

@Mrsjayy didn't know there was a sequel! I assume it's not as good as its predecessor but no problem, I'll still watch it. Smile
