The worst movie you have ever seen in the Cinema

What is the worst film / most crappiest experience you've ever had in a cinema ?

I'll start. I remember watching the zodiac. I was immature and didn't really understand it-- but it was the most boring film I've ever seen in the cinema.

A few years later I watched Never Let me go. The atmosphere at the end was highly depressive

When I was a teen in the early '90s we'd go to the cinema all the time because it was £1. I saw some shockers - we'd basically see anything and everything we could get into. Absolute worst was a Sylvester Stallone slapstick 1920s 'comedy' (I kid you not) called Oscar. It was absolutely awful. Unfunny and horribly miscast - only time I've walked out of the cinema.

Even Cowgirls Get The Blues. It was years and years ago, but I remember it because it was so awful. Loads of people walked out. I didn't because I'd paid, and I like my monies worth.

Space Jam 2.
Horrendously long & boring.
Kids all chatting & fidgeting.
Terrible!

torquewench · 07/01/2022 21:37

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The fighting that broke out in the East Lancs Road Showcase on that long-ago Boxing Day were more entertaining. Me and my then BoyF walked out and asked for our money back. And got it.

Peanut82 · 07/01/2022 21:38

Paranormal Activity 4 😂 there was only me and dp in the cinema. It was dire

lilyborderterrier · 07/01/2022 21:41

Solaris it was so boring I fell asleep.

TravelDreamLife · 07/01/2022 21:43

The Shipping news.

Admittedly my friend & I randomly chose a film, no idea what it was about. It made no sense, was utterly depressing & I still don't know what it was about!

Gingerbreadrules · 07/01/2022 21:53

@exhausteddog we LOVE the Lego Batman movie lol

CorpusCallosum · 07/01/2022 21:55

Bulletproof Monk

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 07/01/2022 21:57

Second Twilight film. My friend convinced me to go but I hadn't seen the first film or read any of the books so I spent all two hours wondering why the vampires had decided to fight the werewolves.

JohnStonesMissus · 07/01/2022 21:57

Lost in Translation, fuck me I was bored..

Gingerbreadrules · 07/01/2022 22:00

@Fieldofflowers1 yes! I absolutely loved the book of About a Boy and they completely changed the story in the film.

Also, and I'm cheating here as I didn't see it in the cinema, but Five Children and It bore absolutely no resemblance to the book either.

@workingtheusername

Blair witch it made me throw up 🤢
I still can't watch any film or tv show where the camera is shaky and spinning around, same as you it makes me feel ill, it's one of the reasons I never went to see Blair Witch...
Whitney168 · 07/01/2022 22:06

Hard to choose between The Favourite or Lost In Translation, both utter bilge.

Loved No Country For Old Men though, although haven’t seen it in cinema, just on TV. Think I’d have been scared witless in the cinema.

thimblekisses · 07/01/2022 22:10

I'm so glad I didn't go to see some of these films. Clover field I saw on here. What even was that ! ?

Lost in Translation, fuck me I was bored..
aw it's bloody brilliant! Is very subtle though. Def not action packed.
thimblekisses · 07/01/2022 22:14

@Bluebluemoon

OP I watched Never Let Me Go on another plane trip - I was travelling back from LA to London on packed redeye, and the only people who seemed to be watching it we’re me and the girl next to me. When it finished we both just sat there in utter desolation.

Don't ever read the book then whatever you do - Dh nearly had a heart attack when he walked in on me just after I'd finished that book - he thought someone in the family had died! I couldn't breathe I was crying so hard!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to feel that utter misery afterwards Confused

Cloverfield was a found footage movie about an alien invasion. I couldn't watch it properly because it made me feel sick. Jerky camera all over the place.
RedRec · 07/01/2022 22:15

Trading Places. The only film I have ever walked out of.

thimblekisses · 07/01/2022 22:16

@Changingtheweather

Dead Ringers with Jeremy Irons Misogynistic identical twin gynaecologists, drug fuelled murder, “mutant”reproductive system opening instruments... Only film I’ve ever walked out of.

Apparently it’s one of the Top Ten Canadian films

I'll be watching the tv series remake with Rachel Weisz. Yes please Grin

Actually another one I can think of is Sausage Party. I've never been so embarrassed at watching two food items get it on. Blush

StylishDuck · 07/01/2022 22:18

Anchorman. I just couldn't understand why everyone else in the cinema was wetting themselves laughing.

I have since watched it again on DVD and can appreciate the daft humour. I was maybe just expecting something different.

Not anywhere near as bad as Stepbrothers. But thankfully I didn't see that in the cinema.

EllieSattler · 07/01/2022 22:21

@lilyborderterrier

Solaris it was so boring I fell asleep.
I chose that when it was my turn to pick a film and I was justifiably banned from choosing again for ages. That was back in the day when my friends and I had cineworld unlimited cards and plenty of free time and would go see any old shite.

I walked out of Dogville. Miserable depressing crap that was.

alwayslearning789 · 07/01/2022 22:22

Got to be 'Meet The Spartans'...

ILoveAnOwl · 07/01/2022 22:25

Cloverfield. Awful film... First date with stbxh... Should've taken it as a sign...
