Just watched this and really enjoyed.

The actor was really good, and conveyed expressions well.

Loved the song Sarah Lancashire sang - my favourite out of the whole film.

Yes, I watched it last week.
I'd seen it advertised at the theatre, and it didn't really appeal, but then I saw it was on TV and thought I'd have a look, and really enjoyed it - been recommending it to everyone Smile

CiaoForNiao · 03/10/2021 00:10

I've watched it 4 times. Gutted I didn't get to see it in London.
"He's my boy" makes me weep buckets.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 03/10/2021 00:22

My DD has seen the play over 20 times and loved it and knew the cast well. She had tickets booked for the show in Brighton and Amsterdam too, but then Covid arrived… I’ve heard the film is as good as the stage version, so will definitely watch it. I think I like the ‘ugly’ song.

I only found out last week that t had closed in London. Sad But it’s moved to the US - an excuse for a holiday perhaps. ☺️

I saw in Manchester amazing, it was absolutely fabulous. So uplifting and seen a few men with heels on with their mums and it just made me weep more

Magissa · 03/10/2021 00:38

Gorgeous film. I really loved Richard E Grant's song. Loved the 80s flashbacks.
Definitely one I will watch again.

It’s touring the UK.
tumpymummy · 03/10/2021 00:47

Oooh, where is film? Netflix?

CiaoForNiao · 03/10/2021 00:55

It's on prime.

KikoLemons · 03/10/2021 01:15

Saw the show in London when it first came out. Absolutely wonderful. Will make sure I catch the film.

AndWhatNext · 03/10/2021 01:35

I took DD to see it in London in the summer and we loved it. Don't have Amazon prime but I image is also very good. It's in my top 3 musicals. 13yo DDs #1

TheTeenageYears · 03/10/2021 02:02

@RaskolnikovsGarret it's on tour in the UK www.everybodystalkingaboutjamie.co.uk/tour-dates-book-tickets/

RaskolnikovsGarret · 03/10/2021 09:46

Ah thanks both - I didn’t realise it was touring; will have a look. Smile

We thought it was a bit pants.

So formulaic! Seen it all before and it ticked every single cliché. We had to skip through Sarah Lancashire’s song as it was painful. I’m sure seeing the actual musical is probably a lot better.

Loved the guy that plays Jamie. He was fab.

Spidey66 · 04/10/2021 21:41

I saw it last week, it was very sweet.

cheeseisthebest · 04/10/2021 21:43

It was clichéd but me and my 13 year old DD still loved it. Tour all sold out near us unfortunately.

Biancadelrioisback · 04/10/2021 21:56

It should be right up my street but I really didn't like it.

Nothing really happened?! And the things that did happen were so twee. I know that's musicals are generally quite twee but most at least have a plot...

HairBobbles · 04/10/2021 22:05

I love a musical but this was really not up to much IMO. I have seen the stage show and watched the film. I genuinely don’t get the hype.

TertiusLydgate · 05/10/2021 08:09

Everything in it has been done a thousand times before.

Skint mum with a heart of gold and her quirky mate. School bully. Best friend that’s also maligned. Has-been with a story to tell. Mean dad. Come-uppances neatly followed by a jolly all-comes-right-in-the-end. 🙄

Except Jamie is based on the real-life Jamie Campbell
Biancadelrioisback · 05/10/2021 20:43

Who's Jamie Campbell?

Needaholiday101 · 05/10/2021 20:52

I loved it, watched it a couple of times now and been playing the soundtrack on alexa. Also booked the show for next year. Love the story and music, He is my boy is my favourite song.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 05/10/2021 20:58

I watched this with DD and we both loved it. I cried buckets during Richard E Grant’s song.

Moonface123 · 05/10/2021 21:15

I saw the documentary, a few years ago. I have often wondered what happened to Jamie since.

He's started his own fashion line. I think he sells tracksuits made from sofa fabric. I can't decide if they are gorgeous or hideous Hmm

......and isn't that what we expect from a musical , a rom com, a Sunday evening light drama, etc, and that so many people love? Smile

Not for everyone, but you now what you are getting.
