genuinely scary film

I like horror films but I am looking for one that will really scare I feel
burnt out with them and am looking for on that will really scare me?
can you recommend?

What kind of horror do you like?

Paranormal (ghosts, exorcism, devil etc)
Wilderness horror (i dont know like mutant creature attacks at night or blair witch)
Gory ones (evil dead, jeepers creepers kind of thing)
Freak (like IT)
Weird (it follows, black string)

Have you watched Haunting of Hill House?? I usually dont like ghost stories but this is really good!

The new Hollowman movie is good as well.

I’ve just watched Relic on Amazon Prime. Really really unsettling. Similar vibe to Hereditary and The Babadook.

If you can find a copy, or somewhere that’s streaming it, go for Suspiria (the original version)

Hereditary is creepy AF and I'm hard to unsettle film wise!

I found hereditory overrated though, like a lot of borrowed horror definitely creepy!

Ive heard the foreign movie korean i think "the host" is great its most probably in Netflix

Oh and Midsommar made me feel like I was high as anything - I'm still not sure if I actually 'enjoyed' it as such but it was really unsettling and was visually beautiful. Florence Pugh is such a talent, really commanding on screen.

Creep - the one about the London underground. Fucking terrifying.

@youvegottenminuteslynn no sexual violence. There are some proper grim bits though, some self -mutilation parts akin to Hereditary. And overall just a deeply unsettling sense of dread and foreboding and utter fucked-up ness. Came away not entirely sure what the hell happened. Oh, one other thing, it’s quite pricey at £5.99 to rent.

Yep Midsommar was good too. The Ritual is very underrated. Another film that I hardly see anywhere that is very good is called The Endless. 2 brothers who escaped a UFO death cult 10 years previously return. If anybody watches let me know what you think. 😬🥴

@VienneseWhirligig completely agree about creep. I watched it one halloween and I became convinced the man/thing from the film was up my attic I completely convinced myself. I phoned my stepdad and told him something was up there he came round and the conversation went sd- what did you say is up there? Me- you know that film we watched on halloween, well it's the man from it
My stepdad went and got a hammer before he went to investigate

Is the endless a bit slow? I started watching it and got bored so switched it off! but I don’t think I have seen the trailer before.

Hereditary is literally one of the most boring films I've ever seen
The cinema erupted into laughter at the end
