I watched People, Places, Things recently - a really lovely rom-com with Jermaine Clement. It made me realise that I haven’t watched another really heartwarming, funny film for ages.

Any recommendations of anything similar?

“At Middleton” - saw it on amazon prime. Sweet movie.

Big. Sweet and very funny.

My dad would vote for Nanny McPhee. He watches it regularly on ITV3.

Also “Its kind of a funny story” definitely heart warming.

Paddington and Paddington 2 may be family films but they will absolutely cheer you up...

Just watched Jane Austens Book Club. Charming and heartwarming.

Hugely heartwarming and totally lovely us Green Book. May not sound like it from the blurb, but trust me, it's wonderful.

A Street Cat Named Bob

Lots of warm and fuzzies, true story with a great ending, and a very charming cat.

Jocasta2018 · 04/10/2020 08:28

Breakfast at Tiffany's
The cab pulling up outside Tiffany's, Moon River playing the the background, Audrey Hepburn looking effortlessly glamorous studying the window displays, eating her Danish & drinking her coffee.
The rain is beating against the windows here - me & my cat might just spend a sofa/duvet day watching the charms of Holly Golightly!

I'm so happy PPs mentioned Legally Blonde. It's my guilty pleasure. When I'm feeling low and need some inspiration and self belief, it always does the job.

longtompot · 04/10/2020 17:37

Thank you for those who suggested Peanut Butter Falcon (watched last night) and This Is Where I Leave You, which I have just finished watching. Loved both, but esp This Is Where...
I think tonight I will be watching Dumplin.

monkeyonthetable · 04/10/2020 18:12

@BubblyWater - me too. I watch it as a mood lifter on gloomy days. It always works. I love that film so much.

And The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 04/10/2020 21:40

Seconding Dumplin, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Eddie the Eagle and Pride.

And adding Swiss Army Man which is a heck of a weird film but honestly very beautiful and heart warming, if you don't mind all the bizarre elements.
Plus Takes of the Bagnold Summer, a recent and wonderful film about a mother and teenage son.
Lilting which is poignant but ultimately uplifting about a bereaved mother and her son's partner (played by Ben Whishaw).

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 04/10/2020 21:41

Sorry that should have been

Bob died recently, he had no idea how much he changed that mans life Smile

GinAtMerlottes · 05/10/2020 23:05

Ghosts on iplayer isn’t a film but there are two series and they are gorgeously touching and sweet and hysterically funny.

Also loved the new Call of The Wild.

Lostinacloud · 07/10/2020 21:22

Bit late to the party but I absolutely loved ‘Waking Ned’ - A little known film set in Ireland. Funny, sweet and definitely heartwarming.

purpleme12 · 07/10/2020 21:33

God I remember I watched Waking Ned at the cinema. But couldn't tell you anything about it now. It was my stepmum's choice of film. That brings me right back!

mum2jakie · 08/10/2020 21:12

Loved The Help. It made me cry all the way through but had a great heartwarming ending.
