I watched People, Places, Things recently - a really lovely rom-com with Jermaine Clement. It made me realise that I haven’t watched another really heartwarming, funny film for ages.

Any recommendations of anything similar?

I see Eurovision was already mentioned.

I also have a real soft spot for the live action remake of Cinderella.

Came in to say About Time - but someone got there first!

It's a wonderful film with the most beautiful soundtrack too

Funko · 01/10/2020 21:36

@Tobermory oh I love About Time - great film

AnnaMagnani · 01/10/2020 21:36

I used to watch Legally Blonde and Lagaan over and over again.

I instantly thought About Time too. I need to rewatch it.

Also love The Family Stone but it makes me sob.

Wonder. It's a brilliant film with so many lessons.

Mr Holland's Opus.

@Tinkletwat

Hunt for the Wilderpeople, it has a kiwi link. Really hope you watch it and enjoy it!
That's an awesome film, so quirky but lovely.

Saving Mr Banks - about taking mary poppins from book to film with Walt Disney.

The absolute ultimate heartwarming movie is Pollyanna. I watch it once in a blue moon but it always has the "Pollyanna affect"

Its currently on Disney, if you subscribe to that channel. Its an older movie so shouldn't be too hard to locate elsewhere.

AutumnSuns · 01/10/2020 21:51

The family stone has been recommended by a previous poster, I do not recommend watching it. It is not heartwarming to me and left me feel really sad and empty.

Malteserdiet · 01/10/2020 21:52

The pursuit of happiness
Blind Date on Netflix - in french but such a cute rom com film

BumpLoading · 01/10/2020 21:53

Wonder - with Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts

Babette’s Feast

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 01/10/2020 22:13

Brooklyn is really depressing isn’t it? As is Judy.

I second Mr Holland’s Opus. Love it so much. Also a Streetcat named Bob if you like cats!

SqidgeBum · 01/10/2020 22:23

@ColonelNobbyNobbs I am an irish immigrant in the UK. I cried for a week after watching Brooklyn. I couldnt even talk about it.

SqidgeBum · 01/10/2020 22:25

I also second About Time. Gorgeous movie. We walked down the aisle as husband and wife to the version of "How Long Will I Love You" from that movie.

emsyj37 · 01/10/2020 22:26

Mr Holland's Opus is great
Also, The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 01/10/2020 22:27

Sqidge Flowers The book is sadder!

Totickleamockingbird · 01/10/2020 22:30

@LongPauseNoAnswer

The Hundred Foot Journey - Helen Mirren is magnificent in it.
That is some movie! I need to watch it again.
Ughmaybenot · 01/10/2020 22:30

And I loved the peanut butter falcon
