I watched People, Places, Things recently - a really lovely rom-com with Jermaine Clement. It made me realise that I haven’t watched another really heartwarming, funny film for ages.

Any recommendations of anything similar?

Eddie the Eagle was brilliant, really wasn't expecting it.

@babyinthacorner it’s a lovely film is t it 🥰 . I’m in bed ill, watched it yesterday and lots of sobbing.

Today I’ve found ‘This is Us’ which is the most lovely, heartwarming, emotional box set I’ve ever seen. Lots of tissues required!

I absolutely love Erin Brokovich, Saving Mr Banks is wonderful too and so is the Winnie the Pooh film with Ewan McGregor-I can’t remember what it’s called 🤔

I’d also recommend Chef.

Love Guaranteed has just come out on Netflix.

Pride is a lovely film and I always cry at the end. Some wonderful characters, a terrific cast, and based on true events.

Happyness
Mona Lisa Smile (sounds like a rom com - isn't.)

LongHotSummerJustPassedMeBy · 01/10/2020 22:58

Forgot to add - Blinded by the Light.

monkeyonthetable · 01/10/2020 22:59

Yes, Pride is a lovely true story.
Chocolat, Monsoon Wedding and Legally Blonde are my comfort films on rainy days when I feel a bit down. Especially Legally Blonde. It's just a happiness injection.

Sunshine On Leith
Eddie The Eagle

Serendipity - but probably best saved for nearer Christmas. I loved the one with Tom Hanks about the pilot who landed on the Hudson - a truly heroic story.

Stan & Ollie. Didn't expect to enjoy it. Dh and I were 'awwww' at the end.

purpleme12 · 01/10/2020 23:28

Not read the whole thread but came on here to say Serendipity and realised someone's already suggested it! 👍

Ah this is a good one actually. Unexpected

Temple Grandin with Clare Danes- have some tissues ready, it’s genuinely amazing.

MrsClatterbuck · 02/10/2020 00:14

One I loved was In her Shoes with Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine. Lovely heart warming film.

apapuchi · 02/10/2020 00:34

Oh, another voice for About Time. It's perfect and I wanted to think it'd be the usual daft Richard Curtis schmaltz but it's different. I would watch it again and again and cry and appreciate it. My husband is fed up of my love of this film now, although he did like it too and he's totally action-obsessed when it comes to films!
