I loved it, saw it with my mother (who is of the era and saw The Beatles weekly at the Cavern). As you said, it was an easy, feel good film (& him meeting one of the surviving Beatles made us both cry). It won't win an Oscar, but it will make people laugh & smile.

CormoranStrike · 29/06/2019 18:42

Loved it, also welled up a little.

dudsville · 29/06/2019 18:54

I don't like the Beatles but wondered if I'd like this film.

PaquitaVariation · 29/06/2019 18:56

Loved it. The very definition of a feel-good movie.

Wendalicious · 29/06/2019 19:35

You really need to like their music although it probably helps as you’re reminder how good their stuff is- it’s more about love (I’m dying to write actually Blush)

Sorry I meant you don’t really need to like their music!

Saw it last night. Amusing but a bit twee and I felt some comedy opportunities were missed. The romance was unconvincing. A couple of good moments (cottage visit).
I was in the minority though everyone else loved it.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 30/06/2019 07:40

I loved it!

WeaselsRising · 30/06/2019 16:30

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. Amazed that Tamwar from Eastenders can actually sing and act Sad.

Yes the plot was obvious and they missed some opportunities but it was a nice film. Liked the 2 people who seemed to be stalking him as well.

twosoups1972 · 02/07/2019 17:36

Do you think a 12 year old would enjoy it?

YorkshireGoldFanClub · 02/07/2019 17:37

Off to see it tonight!

Knobrob · 02/07/2019 17:41

@mrswarthog that was a very dead Beatle!!!

Thought there was far too much Ed Sheeran tbh. Was ok, but twee and not worth the ticket price. Wait for the DVD.

WeaselsRising · 02/07/2019 21:33

My 12yo loved it.

UrsulaPandress · 02/07/2019 21:36

We really enjoyed it. Fab music.

longwayoff · 03/07/2019 11:16

Ohhhhh. I loathe Richard Curtis films but find myself drawn to this. Will the level of sweetness make my teeth fall out before the end? Is it as bad as Love Actually?

UrsulaPandress · 03/07/2019 11:51

Hell no. If you enjoy Beatles music it's a blast.

longwayoff · 03/07/2019 12:23

On thank you Ursula, on your say so I'll give it a go. Saturday sorted, thanks very muchSmile

UrsulaPandress · 03/07/2019 12:25

Eek. Don't blame me if you don't enjoy it!

I don't get out much and I was in need of some serious distraction on Saturday so it worked for me.

And the other two couples in the cinema.

longwayoff · 03/07/2019 13:07

Ah ha, that good eh? I shall hold you personally responsible if it fails to entertain. Not really, it's Richard Curtis so I'm prepared for what may lie ahead.

BestIsWest · 03/07/2019 21:19

I really liked it, loved the music and liked the plot twist. Saw it with 21 yo DS who didn’t like the plot twist at all.

smileannie · 05/07/2019 02:09

Awesome movie.
Danny Boyle all the way.
What a fab (lol Fab Four) way to make a film featuring Beatles songs rather than biopic eg Rocketman, Bo Rhap (both of which are great too)
Loved it towards the end when he realises nobody has heard of Harry Potter either

noodlenosefraggle · 06/07/2019 22:16

I really liked it. The music obviously was fab, the 'cameo' was lovely and poignant, even Ed Sheeran was good, I thought!. I have no idea why Lily James insists on playing such drippy characters though. She could do better than be shoehorned into a boring Richard Curtis Mills and Boone romance. Wasted screen time that could have been spent on the far more interesting and touching main story.

lovelyjessie · 07/07/2019 11:15

Stranger things third season was really fire, what your thoughts??

UrsulaPandress · 07/07/2019 14:41

@longwayoff
Did you go?

NotSorry · 09/07/2019 08:12

It was ok - not as good as I thought it would be - Lily James only ever plays Lily James, she really needs a meaty role in something to show her acting skills
