Saddest film you've ever seen?

So I'm sitting here watching Seven Pounds (Will Smith)
I've seen this film loads of times, but it never fails to make me cry. Like proper ugly cry, tears streaming, everything.
This is the only film that does this to me. I think it's so underrated.

What movies do this to other people??

I Am Sam. Watched with a load of guy mates and found myself (and them!) sobbing quite a few times

hugoagogo · 13/01/2019 19:13

Haatchi- sobbed like a baby
Coco- I am ashamed to say, I didn't even think it was that good, but it pushed my buttons.
Benjamin Button- so sad i was gulping and bawling.

TryItAndDieFatLass · 13/01/2019 19:15

MrsJayy · 13/01/2019 19:16

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/01/2019 19:17

Silent Running (1972). Never cried as much at any other film.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/01/2019 19:19

And never forgetting the magnificent Terms Of Endearment

BabloHoney · 13/01/2019 19:27

Tyrannosaur.. Olivia Colman is as brilliant as ever in it, but my god it’s bleak.

I Daniel Blake.. I sobbed at the mum in the food bank scene.

There’s an indie film from maybe 15 years ago called From London to Brighton.. great film but so depressing.

And the scene in trainspotting where the baby crawls across the ceiling.. still get a lump in my throat thinking about that.

Vitalogy · 13/01/2019 19:29

Silent Running (1972). Never cried as much at any other film. I know, the music as well!

Blessthekids · 13/01/2019 19:35

In RL I'm as emotional as a rock but film just get to me... I cry at most films tbh. All the usual suspects. Some that stuck with me:

Astro boy (I was 16 and took my 6 year old brother to the cinema and I sobbed and sobbed whilst all the other 6 year olds looked at me like wtf)
Hotel Rwanda
Miss you already

Watched Manchester by the sea last night and can't stop thinking about it

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/01/2019 19:48

I try to avoid sad films but have shed a little tear the first time I saw Beauty and the Beast (cartoon version), Astro Boy too.

chemenger · 13/01/2019 19:51

I had forgotten Silent Running. The watering can and the bunny rabbit. Welling up just thinking about it.

ReggaeTramp · 13/01/2019 19:54

Stepmom. So cheesy but I just can’t help it, sob every time!

KTD27 · 13/01/2019 19:56

@snowdrifthill I can’t believe I forgot About Time. I LOVE this so much.
The relationship between the son and the father and the fact that all he wants is one more day with his daddy 😭 I can’t stop wailing at the end. It’s beautiful.

jollyjester · 13/01/2019 19:58

Suffragette when she goes to wish George a Happy Birthday. Anyone who has seen it and has kids would be an emotional wreck!

Inside Out -Poor Bingbong
I, Daniel Blake - the foodbank scene

When I was small it was the scene in 3 men and a baby when you thought she left and took Mary and they get back and Mary and Sylvia are there.

Paddington 2 when Aunt Lucy appears

GreenShadow · 13/01/2019 19:59

Unsentimental DS3 would quickly answer with Simon Birch, a little known US film about a young boy with dwarfism. I've never seen it shown over since we first watched it together over 10 years ago.

Snowdrifthill · 13/01/2019 20:04

KTD27
I know, isn't it beautiful, it was a massive blubfest for me.
I had to take myself to bed.
