Saddest film you've ever seen?

So I'm sitting here watching Seven Pounds (Will Smith)
I've seen this film loads of times, but it never fails to make me cry. Like proper ugly cry, tears streaming, everything.
This is the only film that does this to me. I think it's so underrated.

What movies do this to other people??

My sisters keeper.
Swollen eyes, snot, load cries, beautiful film throughout.

Bizarrely, I’d taken my daughter out for a girlie day to cheer her up to the cinema! Shock when we watched it.

MrPoppysGF · 13/01/2019 20:21

Up also has its moments.

BiggFactHunt · 13/01/2019 20:24

I only caught the last 10 minutes of Coco and was in bits. Didn’t even know what the plot was but it looked sad.

Watched another kids one over Christmas, about the bull- what’s it called. Fernando?
Fucking hell, I cried so much!

And Toy Story 3 when he gives away his toys to the little girl, I have to leave the room. I think it’s because I loved my toys so much when I was a child. I watch it and am upset for myself that I had to grow up Grin

BiggFactHunt · 13/01/2019 20:25

Ferdinand! Close enough

Gonegrey31 · 13/01/2019 20:27

Just remembered Dead Poets Society, when the boys all say "Captain my Captain" and stand on their desks in solidarity.

franke · 13/01/2019 20:27

Toys Story 3 - I can't watch the end where he's handing the toys over to the little girl. So emotional, I'm tearing up now as I think about it.

I avoid any really sad films which involve children. I can't handle them. I've never watched Sophie's Choice and I never will.

Mondayschild78 · 13/01/2019 20:37

Good Will Hunting
Sleepers
Coco
Watership Down

MistyMinge · 13/01/2019 20:37

There's a few, but the two that spring to mind are ones that I've watched recently - a star is born, my jaw ached from trying to hold back the heaving sobs in the cinema. I Daniel Blake, watched it last night, made me sob.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/01/2019 20:46

Schindler's List
Boys Don't Cry
Girl, Interrupted

Accountant222 · 13/01/2019 21:26

Goodbye Mr Chips and Goodnight Mr Tom

MrsJDornan · 13/01/2019 21:29

Oh I forgot about the fox and the hound! Where she leaves Todd in the woods at the beginning 💔

fatbottomedgirl100 · 13/01/2019 21:52

No Child of Mine. It’s about a young girl trying to escape her (sexually) abusive family. It’s a truly devastating watch, had me weeping in the cinema.

ManchesterMum63 · 13/01/2019 23:21

Marley and Me... took DS and 5 friends for his 12/13th birthday cinema trip... Had nooo idea it would be quite so sad... Cue several 'sobbing' boys (including one who'd recently lost a pet😳)

Stepmom - with Susan Sarandon/Julia Roberts - cheesy but 'effective'😪

marmitedoughnut · 13/01/2019 23:41

Schindler's list - if the ending scenes don't make you cry, check your pulse.

CarolDanvers · 13/01/2019 23:55

I watched Manchester By The Sea last night. I agree there was no joy in it but there was certainly fragile hope imvho. I loved it.

There's a film called Thunderbolt and Lightfoot with very young Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. I cried so hard at that movie that I couldn't eat my dinner when my Mum called me just after I finished watching it.

Also Alice and Uncas in Last Of the Mohicans

Dd cried at Bumblebee at the cinema the other day, I happened to look over at her and there were tears flooding down her face.

Oceanbliss · 14/01/2019 04:37

flapjackfairy I'm with you on Emma Thompson. OMG she can make me cry. I want to add another of her movies to the sad list: Wit. I can never see this movie again. Brilliant, but so painfully sad. That movie affected me for days. She plays a woman terminally ill with cancer who has no family or friends. A university lecturer who is intelligent, intellectual who seems to have enjoyed a solitary life but is now dying alone.

Schindler's List Sad

skunkatanka · 14/01/2019 06:45

Ah yes, the Green Mile.. that makes me cry every time, but just a couple of tears, not ugly crying, that was just the first time I watched it. My son however, was a state after that. He buried himself under a blanket and cried for 20 mins after! (He was 13!)**

The Green Mile is rated 18 so you were a bit daft for letting him watch it.

bluetit101 · 14/01/2019 07:12

@skunkatanka

Bore off.
I swear some people just go through these posts to see what they can nit pick at it.

I, Daniel Blake

Littleray84 · 14/01/2019 07:26

It's a newish one ..... Life itself. I'm notorious for being a bit hard and i bawled my eyes out a few times in this. I am 18 weeks pregnant though. It really got me!

bluetit101 · 14/01/2019 07:30

@NicolaStart

So many people have said Manchester By The Sea - I've downloaded to watch tonight Smile

The first Pokemon movie, l cried in a cinema full of 6 year olds.

I watched A Monster Calls last night. I don't think I have ever cried so much at a film, I was sobbing by the end. What a beautiful film, but so very sad.

bluetit101 · 14/01/2019 07:31

@Littleray84

I keep seeing that one being advertised but reading mixed reviews. Might have to give it a go
