Saddest film you've ever seen?

So I'm sitting here watching Seven Pounds (Will Smith)
I've seen this film loads of times, but it never fails to make me cry. Like proper ugly cry, tears streaming, everything.
This is the only film that does this to me. I think it's so underrated.

What movies do this to other people??

Steel magnolias
Terms of endearment

Two that always come to my mind

AJPTaylor · 13/01/2019 17:37

Sophies choice. If you have never watched it. Don't. Esp if you have kids.

Gonegrey31 · 13/01/2019 17:38

Another vote for Brokeback Mountain.
Also a French film, Les Untouchables. True story and makes me cry every time I see it .

Brokeback Mountain is my go-to when I need catharsis.

When he buries his face in his coat at the end!! 💔💔💔

eggsandwich · 13/01/2019 17:45

Forever young with mel gibson, everytime I shed a tear.

MrsJayy · 13/01/2019 17:46

I remember taking Dd to see The Blindside with Sandra bullock and coming out of the cinema weeping we all were but for the life of me i can't remember the ending and why i was crying Blush

MrsJayy · 13/01/2019 17:51

Oh @MrsJayy*, I was gonna say Hachi! Isn't it just the saddest story!? Can't believe it's a true story 😔

The impossible. Sobbed

Sassenach85 · 13/01/2019 17:56

Does anyone know the name of a movie that had Cameron Diaz in it and her daughter had cancer? It was a long time ago but I still remember my heart hurting and the sobbing and the tears!

MrsJayy · 13/01/2019 17:58

That is my Sisters keeper with cameron diaz.

haverhill · 13/01/2019 18:01

Shadowlands had me howling at the end.

PutDownThatLaptop · 13/01/2019 18:03

Life is Beautiful.
Up.
The Magdalene Sisters.
The Florida Project.

OneStepMoreFun · 13/01/2019 18:05

Ooples - Yes, Manchester by the sea is heartbreaking.

LeslieYep · 13/01/2019 18:06

Most recently Moana has had me and DH in tears, but have watched it daily since (thanks toddler DD!) And we're now immune.

Inside out is fab and wonderfully emotional. It makes me sad too, when you notice which emotion is the main 'controller' in her parents too.

Passion of the Christ had me dehydrated in the cinema. As a pp said, the cruelty meted out to that person, regardless of who he was.

The end of monsters Inc, when mike has rebuilt the door. Sully puts in the last piece, opens it and we just see his face light up in complete delight as Boo says Kitty!

I've been crying reading the above posts! I'll blame it on my pregnancy...

The mighty. The book and the film are heartbreaking.

SingingSands · 13/01/2019 18:11

This bit in Forrest Gump:

"You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under our tree. And I had that house of your father's bulldozed to the ground."

Waaah Sad

sweetkitty · 13/01/2019 18:21

A Dog’s Purpose so sad

Snowdrifthill · 13/01/2019 18:38

About Time, a Richard Curtis film. I thought I would never stop, made myself a bit ill !

Loyaultemelie · 13/01/2019 18:51

Marley and Me. My Sisters Keeper. Definitely not going to attempt A Dogs Purpose!

EskiVodkaCranberry · 13/01/2019 18:53

The impossible
Boss baby Confused
And I won't watch boy in the striped pyjamas because I've read the book and cried and I don't think I'd cope seeing the film

Wineloffa · 13/01/2019 18:54

Philomena. Even thinking about it now makes me feel emotional.

ginyogarepeat · 13/01/2019 18:57

A Single Man for sheer amount of tears shed. Tyrannosaur for being so utterly bleak.

ginyogarepeat · 13/01/2019 18:59

Oh yes and more recently - I, Daniel Blake. Mostly tears of anger and frustration rather than sadness though.
