Not yet, going at weekend. Trailer looks great and I LOVE Steve Coogan, he's a terrific actor

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 09/01/2019 16:41

I agree Lotta. I think I will go and see it too!

Went to a preview screening. It is beautiful. I watched L&H on my dad’s knee and watch them now with my children, so have a massive soft spot. The movie is a celebration of friendship, the performances are spot on, it’s funny and moving in equal measure. The closing scene had me in raptures.
Will be seeing it again.

Thank you Shiver for posting. I have arranged to go with a friend on Tuesday so will report back.

Yes I went to a preview too a few weeks ago - loved it - Steve Coogan and John C Reilly are amazing

shadypines · 12/01/2019 15:50

I can't wait too, have always loved them, so does DH and now our 2 DCs. The likenesses look/sound uncanny in the trailers, I just wish my parents were here to see it! Great to see your review Shiver

My simple soul really believes that all kids should get to watch L&H as real funny stuff is never out dated. Today's TV diet seems to be mostly mega serious, not to mention overly violent and I don't wonder depression rates have soared in young people - crikey I am going off on a tangent , sorry!!

Lottapianos · 12/01/2019 18:33

Saw it today. It's WONDERFUL. Beautifully written and perfectly performed by everyone. I was a bit overcome by the end and had to pull my self together when I got outside Smile

JazzTheDog · 12/01/2019 20:10

We also saw it today. DH is a massive Laurel and Hardy fan and DS(13) has been a convert since we visited the museum in Ulvertson 18 months ago.

We loved it, poignant, funny and a proper love story between 2 friends. Highly recommend it!

Lottapianos · 12/01/2019 20:46

'a proper love story between 2 friends'

So much. I was fully invested in how much they really loved each other

Bluelonerose · 12/01/2019 20:48

I remember watching the cartoons when i was little.
I didn't realise the cartoons were based on films till I was older Blush
Can't wait to see it I think it looks great

MrsGrindah · 12/01/2019 20:52

Just seen it. DH dragged me there but it was fantastic ! Cried though! All the lead actors are terrific.

PCPlumsTruncheon · 12/01/2019 22:56

I saw it yesterday and absolutely loved it. It brought back memories of my wonderful granddad and watching Laurel and Hardy films with him.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/01/2019 23:10

It's lovely. Visually stunning and superb acting by the two main guys. The only disappointment was Shirley Henderson, who plays pretty much the same person in everything.

whilethechiefputsshineonleith · 12/01/2019 23:12

going on Wednesday to see it

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/01/2019 23:14

I'm going on Tuesday, I can't wait Grin

Christmasfairy07 · 12/01/2019 23:16

Can’t wait to see this. Cry with laughter at L & H

happystory · 13/01/2019 10:48

Absolutely loved it, perfection. Thought their two wives were excellent too. Just love Shirley Henderson.

BestIsWest · 13/01/2019 15:39

Saw it today - it was lovely, beautifully acted. Loved Stan’s Russian wife too.
My dad actually saw them on that tour.

theluckiest · 13/01/2019 22:03

Do you think it's suitable for two very sensible DC? Ages 10 and 12?

I know it's a PG so nothing to worry about but wondered if they might enjoy it?

They both know Laurel & Hardy (as DH is a comedy buff & has shown made them watch a lot of early comedy stuff!!) They both really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody.

It looks wonderful..can't wait!

shutlingsloe · 13/01/2019 22:13

It's perfectly suitable for dc of 10/12.

A lovely, beautiful film with pitch perfect performances.

ManchesterMum63 · 13/01/2019 23:16

Very touching... poignant... sad... the wives' roles also very engaging/captivating... Could have watched 'more' - seemed to finish too soon... perfect casting... little weep at the end😥

jazzsyncopation · 14/01/2019 21:35

went to see with mother: absolutely loved it!!!

MadisonAvenue · 14/01/2019 21:41

We saw it last night, it's wonderful. Everything about it is done to perfection..I want to see it again.
We loved that we recognised places in it too, some of it was shot at the Black Country Living Museum and we go there often.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 14/01/2019 21:44
