I have a looooong list:

The Green Mile
Schindler's list
Atonement
The Colour Purple
History of Violence
American History X
Seven

All horror films - accidentally watched a Centipede one and was horribly disturbed

Eden Lake - hideous

TheChineseChicken · 03/01/2018 09:15

Irreversible. The rape scene haunts me to this day. Gah

Quickerthanavicar · 03/01/2018 09:19

Riot Club. I smashed the DVD.

ohfortuna · 03/01/2018 09:27

I watched the road a few days ago, I reduced the impact by watching it in segments over the course of a few days didn't affect me too badly
I would watch it again..... Except I Tend not to rewatch things because well there's just not enough time as there are too many films to watch 😁

letmepeeinpeace · 03/01/2018 09:27

The boy in the striped pyjamas :-(

IntoTheFloodAgain · 03/01/2018 09:31

just read the plot for A Serbian Film and wish I could unread it. I don't think a film like that should be made.

What the fuck. I’ve just read it too, assuming it was going to be about the war. I don’t understand why anyone would choose to make such a film, it sounds disgusting.

Footle · 03/01/2018 09:32

I'm glad I've been such a total wimp all my life, avoiding films I suspect are going to freak me out.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/01/2018 09:33

Requiem for a Dream

Twoevils · 03/01/2018 09:40

'I am Legend' gave me the serious willies. Never want to see it again, though it's far from the worst thing out there.

'The Road' still haunts me

'Into the Wild' was also a difficult watch

I avoid most horror and deliberate gore fests. Just don't see the need for it.

goodnightfeast · 03/01/2018 09:44

Under The Skin.
The Shining.

ohfortuna · 03/01/2018 09:48

The Shining is one of the few films that I have watched twice
brilliant film imo
Ditto train spotting

Indigo911 · 03/01/2018 09:49

I spit on your grave was incredibly graphic and had a revolting plot. Didn’t know what it was when I watched it and had to turn it off half way through because of all the brutal rape scenes.

Also seen A Serbian Film after an old friend (who was into all sorts of horrible dark things) put it on one evening saying it was a good horror film. There is a graphic rape scene of a baby and it really messed with my head after seeing it

Ratinthehat · 03/01/2018 09:49

I am legend bothered me but not the zombie virus bit just the idea of being completely alone.

I get really affected by stupid things though horror doesn't bother me to much as it's usually stupid or over the top. It's the things that could or have really happened that upset me more. If that makes any sense?

Sarahh2014 · 03/01/2018 09:50

Human centipede 2.don't need to say anymore.grim

AwfulSomething · 03/01/2018 09:51

The Passion of the Christ. Stayed with me for a few days, and I am not easily bothered by films.

Teufelsrad · 03/01/2018 09:53

I don't think that I could watch 'Shooting Dogs' again. It's a film about the Rwandan genocide. I've watched other films about this subject but that one disturbed me more than any other.

A very strange and little known film called 'The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things". The depiction of child abuse was so horrific.

Anything involving animal cruelty.

Vitalogy · 03/01/2018 09:54

The Passion of the Christ. Stayed with me for a few days Yeah, me too, the horrific cruelty, just awful. Sad

TonicAndTonic · 03/01/2018 09:55

Splice

PoisonousSmurf · 03/01/2018 09:57

ExistenZ. Disgusting, vile film. Only time I ever walked out of a cinema!

goodnightfeast · 03/01/2018 09:59

@ohfortuna I've watched The Shining several times! Kind of got obsessed with it as a teenager, after watching it alone the first time. It got deep into my brain and I just had to sort of vow that I'd never watch it again. It's a superb film, but I need to steer clear.

Purplerain101 · 03/01/2018 09:59

I Spit On Your Grave 2 was brutal!

Teufelsrad · 03/01/2018 10:00

I'm trying to bring myself to watch 'Das Boot' again. It's an incredible film and it's one of my favourites but it's far from an easy watch.

I saw the longest version, and spent so much time with those guys only for that to happen and I haven't watched it again since.

Roomba · 03/01/2018 10:10

Dancer in the Dark (quite like Lars von Trier but was taken to see this on a DATE!). Most depressing film ever.

Antichrist - I don't think Lars von Trier is very well, actually.

Precious. Amazing film with incredible acting, but far too close to reality for too many kids.

The Road left me depressed for days. I love Cormac Mccarthy and had read the book, but it was so bleak.

The Emoji Movie - what utter shite! An hour long advert with no plot or redeeming features whatsoever (my kids loved it, of course Hmm)

Ratinthehat · 03/01/2018 10:11

Just thought of another children of men it was so boring and depressing.

justified · 03/01/2018 10:13

I like films like American history x and 12 years a slave, they are difficult to watch but depict things that have actually happened and I learn a lot from them.
the strangers is one that really shook me I watched it a few days ago and don't want to watch it again. same with the purge that was awful to watch.
