Has anyone mentioned Grizzly Man? It haunted me. You're literally watching a man unravel mentally.

Another for Wolf Creek. The killer makes a threat in it which was something an actual serial killer used to do to his victims. One of them was a friend of mine, and I couldn't bear to watch the rest of the film.

Thebluedog · 03/01/2018 19:33

THEM urghhh had to sleep with the light on for two nights after that. I used to love horror films but this one, for some reason really got to me

Starfish · 03/01/2018 19:36

I remember seeing a film years and years ago called Ladybird Ladybird that was about domestic abuse and it was absolutely harrowing.

Also, Okja upset me for weeks.

peppapignonstop · 03/01/2018 19:45

Irreversible has stayed with me for years, would never watch it again, really affected me for a long time.

yourhavingagiraffee · 03/01/2018 19:46

I feel traumatised after googling Serbian film.

SamineShaw · 03/01/2018 19:47

I went to the cinema alone to see Event Horizon thinking I was going to see a sci-fi movie. I was terrified coming out!

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 03/01/2018 19:51

I don't think I've ever seen a film that I wouldn't watch again due to its disturbing nature. I have also never seen a typical horror that has frightened me. I purposely watch all horrors to see if I can be frightened. It's become a thing now - let's see if Hopelessly shits herself or not!

I want to see Mother! So perhaps that could be the one...

A serbian film.... not seen it and having just Googled the synopsis I certainly wouldn't ever want to. Who the actual fuck makes things like that!

AwayAndStuffYourself · 03/01/2018 19:54

American History X is an excellent film (though the subject matter is very upsetting). That scene is deeply unpleasant (I can't actually watch that bit) and still on the DVD edition that I bought recently. Edward Norton is a brilliant actor, and especially so here.

Samcro · 03/01/2018 20:01

Johhny get a gun
Watched it over 30 years ago, gosh it was a mind fuck, metalica brought the rights so they could use it in one

BrokenBattleDroid · 03/01/2018 20:02

I feel traumatised after googling Serbian film.

Me too. Genuinely wish I'd never read the film plot on Wikipedia and I couldn't even get to the end of it. Now off to fill my mind with other things and hope I forget about it. If you are feeling curious, don't bother. It's just horrible evil nasty things to do with children and dead bodies that your brain could never come up with by itself.

Owlish · 03/01/2018 20:22

The Magic Roundabout film completely freaked me out ShockGrin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 03/01/2018 20:28

Pan’s Labyrinth is stunning, beautiful and very clever, but it is so desperately sad. And maybe not stunning or beautiful but a clever twist on a theme, District 9 is also a film that left me really despairing of humankind.

Titsywoo · 03/01/2018 20:35

Frozen - not the kids movie, one about 3 friends who get left behind on a ski lift. There is a couple of very disturbing bits.

Hacksaw Ridge - great film but way too gory for me!

Definitely the American History X kerb scene.

I watched loads of horror films from the ages of about 10 to 14 as my best friend was obsessed and made me watch them with her. I was always terrified but too scared to say. Now I never watch horror films as I know I'll have nightmares!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 03/01/2018 20:37

Filth - wtaf

alittlehelp · 03/01/2018 20:46

Oh, also, Antichrist. Supposed to be arty but just horrible.

I was terrified by event horizon the first time round but watched it again recently and it's quite dated now.

StopHammerTime · 03/01/2018 20:50

A movie I shall never watch again is Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio. Utterly depressing, I felt down for days.

Sarahh2014 · 03/01/2018 21:04

Me and dh have just watched Funny Games after it was mentioned on this thread.it definitely stays with you but not the best film I've seen of that genre

tigercub50 · 03/01/2018 21:09

Another vote for Picnic at Hanging Rock. It left me with a terrible sense of despair & foreboding which really took some shaking!

icantthinkofanotherusername · 03/01/2018 21:31

The heart is decidedly above all things - I was a teenager I only watched it because the spouse twins where in it. The hospital sceane never leaves me.

Also the last house of the left....and the pianist-the part where the boy gets pulled through the hole...I screamed ran out the room and had a full on panic attack!

anything with children in. It makes you think what parents allow their children to ACT out the scenes even if they arnt actually happening. There are some fucked up people in the world!

Kittenswithattitudeandchickens · 03/01/2018 21:36

The Exorcist
When a stranger calls
Evil dead
Bambi
Dumbo
Any of the Friday 13th films

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 03/01/2018 22:32

I just googled Serbian Film.

What. The. Fuck.

UnitedKungdom · 03/01/2018 22:34

Into the Wild.

I'll never forgive it.

Shockers · 03/01/2018 22:35

Scum- saw it about 25 years ago. I still want to cry when I think about it.

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 03/01/2018 22:41

Yes the rape seen in scum is very disturbing

velouria · 03/01/2018 23:39

The synopsis of a Serbian film, is I'd say askin to actually watching it, not too graphic, kill list was a tougher watch.

Tyrannosaur was a downer, also naked Mike leigh.

Funny games just gives me such an intense feeling of claustrophobia
