I have a looooong list:

The Green Mile
Schindler's list
Atonement
The Colour Purple
History of Violence
American History X
Seven

All horror films - accidentally watched a Centipede one and was horribly disturbed

OP posts:

The Human Centipede. Absolutely horific film.

TheQueenOfWands · 03/01/2018 23:52

I'm always surprised when The Human Centepede crops up on these threads.

I viewed it as a spoof. I guess in the same vein as those Not Another XXXXX. Movie type films.

Not seen the second one though.

KingsX · 03/01/2018 23:54

Earthlings.

Middleoftheroad · 03/01/2018 23:57

NRFT but there is a film with Angelina Jolie and her child goes missing only to be replaced by an imposter. It's based on a true story and really disturbed me.

Don't even get me started on a Dog's Purpose....I was blubbing like a baby.

Middleoftheroad · 04/01/2018 00:01

**A movie I shall never watch again is Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio. Utterly depressing, I felt down for days.

God, that was depressing film.

Just remembered Jude the Obscure - another thoroughly depressing Winslet film based on Hardy's depressing book.

Middleoftheroad · 04/01/2018 00:05

Multiple posting.

I still have Kill List on my recordings as I always planned to re-watch as I find it vile yet compelling in equal measures.

peachykeenjellybean1981 · 04/01/2018 00:05

We need to talk about Kevin
😱

cathycake · 04/01/2018 00:05

Don't mind a bit of a horror film but didn't like
Hostel,
the human caterpillar
Also like another poster mentioned earlier a certain scene in Pet cemetery involving a truck..it's horrible

Films that make me sad are Sophie's choice, Marley and me and Billy Bloody Elliot ... oh and an amazing one to watch that will make you cry in a good way is "pay it forward" and " freedom writers"

I've probably missed the total point of the thread but hey ho

OliviaStabler · 04/01/2018 00:05

Casino.

Horrified me and still stays with Mr.

@middleoftheroad
The Angelina Jolie movie you're thinking of is Changling

tinkerbellone · 04/01/2018 00:10

Watership Down *shudder

PutDownThatLaptop · 04/01/2018 00:14

Changeling, the Angelina Jolie film. I was not expecting what happened to the children at all.
Wolf Creek, which I accidentally watched whilst flicking channels. Vile.
The ankle breaking scene in Misery.
The blinding scene in Slumdog Millionaire.
The young man being beaten up at the start of The Shawshank Redemption.
The Magdalene Sisters.

LunchBoxPolice · 04/01/2018 00:24

Mother!

quirkychick · 04/01/2018 13:35

A quick Google has shown me Mother! is from the same people as Requiem for a Dream, I think that will be a no...

I have seen Misery more than once, but couldn't watch the ankle breaking scene again.

I'm with you on the Magdalena Sisters, I couldn't get through the whole film, so depressing.

Purplerain101 · 04/01/2018 13:37

Have those who have said Mother! said it because it’s boring or because it’s disturbing to watch? I haven’t seen it yet but I love Jennifer Lawrence so wanted to

spankhurst · 04/01/2018 13:41

Susperia. Scared me shitless.
Schindler’s List.
A film I saw ages ago where the Nazis beat up someone’s child in front of them to get them to talk. Horrifying.

Alwaysinmyheart · 04/01/2018 13:53

The Elephant Man. So so sad

Antichrist was awful and pointless

Haven't seen a lot of the films on the list as I purposefully avoid disturbing films, even Paranormal Activity was too much for me! I always think, you can't unsee something...

LunchBoxPolice · 04/01/2018 20:14

Purplerain I love Jennifer too, but Mother! was awful. It started off weird but I can deal with that... it was towards the end that there was a horrific scene with a baby that upset me. I considered walking out of the cinema. I'm not usually affected by films like that.

LunchBoxPolice · 04/01/2018 20:14

If you want Jennifer than watch Joy if you haven't already, brilliant film.

mewkins · 04/01/2018 20:21

Manchester by the sea. Brilliant but bloody he'll, we had no warning and it just got sadder and sadder. Me and my friend (and the rest of the cinema) were sobbing from about a third of the way through.

And yes the Bjork one. Dancer in the dark was quite harrowing.

Rainbowmother · 04/01/2018 20:29

I'm another one who won't watch 18s now.

City of God shocked me for a long time. Mainly because I knew those things really were happening to children and every day must be frightening.

And years ago as a teenager I came home in the early hours and caught the end of a film where a group of men break into a cabin and start raping the children and mother. It was realistic and horrific and ends with the mother grabbing a shot gun killing the men, then I think telling the children they'll say no more about it.

It's been twenty years and it has not left me, particularly by becoming a mother. I would like to know the name of this film as now a parent I can't believe they were allowed to do this and I want to make sure I never see it again.

quirkychick · 04/01/2018 20:42

Rainbowmother is that Prince of Tides? There is a similar scene in flashback.

Kitcat159 · 04/01/2018 20:47

Toy story 3
