I saw it. It was ok, dark, funny.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 23/10/2017 23:27

I thought it was wonderful. Fantastic ensemble cast, very funny.

sakura06 · 24/10/2017 07:17

I really want to see it! Hope to catch it before it finishes at my local cinema.

BertrandRussell · 24/10/2017 07:29

Me too, Lass. And the threads of comedy and horror were so brilliantly juxtaposed.

As a side point - have you ever seen anyone who so obviously loves his work as much as Jason Isaacs does?

I saw it on Sunday and loved it. Very funny and brilliantly performed. I thought they balanced the horror and the humour really well. Could have done with a lot more Jason Isaacs though!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/10/2017 07:43

Loved Jason Isaacs!

Zhabr · 24/10/2017 19:02

Me! loved it, one of the best films I have seen recently. And I am russian, so I know really well who is who.

Elend · 24/10/2017 19:05

I'm absolutely dying to see it and it doesn't appear to be showing anywhere in northern ireland Sad

Astella22 · 24/10/2017 19:07

I saw it and thought it was great

DottyBlue2 · 24/10/2017 19:13

I saw it and thought it was MEH!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/10/2017 21:53

Could have done with a lot more Jason Isaacs though!

Wasn't he wonderful? And pretty much what my mental picture of Marshall Zhukov was.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/10/2017 21:58

Well apart from being Yorkshire. I loved that they just let everyone use their own accents.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 24/10/2017 22:00

I'm going to see it on Saturday. Really looking forward to it.

mommybunny · 24/10/2017 22:03

Haven’t been to cinema in ages, but was thinking of going to this. Is it the kind of thing where “if you love Thick of It and Veep you’ll love this?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/10/2017 22:11

I haven't seen Veep but if you liked In The Thick of It or In the Loop you will like it.

NikiBabe · 24/10/2017 23:18

Cool. Will see this one.

Moussemoose · 24/10/2017 23:20

Saw it tonight. Brilliant!

Jason Isaacs is a GOD.

Go and see it.

mollymawk · 25/10/2017 07:14

Really looking forward to seeing this. I know someone who’s in it so it’s very exciting! Apparently it will be on in more cinemas over the weekend. I heard that they deliberately got everyone to use their own accents because the actual protagonists were from all over the USSR and couldn’t always understand each other so it was to reflect that.

PolkaDottyRose · 25/10/2017 19:25

Saw this today, loved it. Jason Isaacs is fantastic, as always.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 26/10/2017 20:52

Really enjoyed this - highly recommended.

grendel · 28/10/2017 15:25

Saw it last night, thought it was great. Very (blackly) funny. Jason isaacs excellent coming in and literally kicking everyone's asses, whilst everyone else is just scurrying around whispering in corners. So many good performances all round. Loved it!

grendel · 28/10/2017 15:28

And what was the story with the truly terrible suits (except Beria)? Did having a good tailor mark you out as a lackey of the capitalists or something?

CorpsemoranShriek · 29/10/2017 08:52

I loved it too - darkly funny, much more enjoyable than you would think.
