Brilliant film but can't take kids to see it. So much bad language and one frightening scene where a man is formed from a skeleton layer by layer showing all the body parts

fairycakecentral That's the thing though, I'm not a superhero film fan either, but I absolutely loved it.

lucydogz · 30/04/2017 21:09

I loved it. Good fun.

Squ1ggle · 30/04/2017 22:29

We absolutely loved it. Saw it at the imax and the effects were fantastic. Agree with pp that it did have some oversentimental parts and the diorama things were a bit weird but there were so many moments where the whole cinema roared with laughter. I'd give it 4 out of 5

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 30/04/2017 22:42

Great fun film. I absolutely loved it. My DC's were equally impressed.

I laughed out loud but also blubbed towards the end. Be warned if you're a bit soft!

YolandiFuckinVisser · 01/05/2017 17:50

Just been to see this, special family outing to the imax. It was awesome, 15yo DS loved it, 10yo DD loved it, DH is a massive fan so it would have had to been really bad for him to not enjoy it. I never cry at films but even I had a tear or 2 at the end, promptly countered by an excellent Drax one-liner. Loved it!

NotCitrus · 01/05/2017 18:11

My friends have said it's a lot better than the first one, which I only saw a couple weeks ago and was a crap movie with some good set pieces.
May see new one but not let 8yo, who is scared of most PG films.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 01/05/2017 19:03

NotCitrus Both films were amazing, but I still prefer the first one!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 01/05/2017 19:08

I cried Sad

And i dont usually cry...ever

I enjoyed it, found some of the planet Ego stuff a bit boring but the rest was funny and actiony

No one left our cinema either

We had reclining seats!!!!! They were awesome

Was it really 2 hours long Shock it was hard to tell...as i was reclining

CherryMintVanilla · 01/05/2017 19:47

I'm glad it's getting such good reviews here, because we have tickets for next week and the reviewers online have been very mixed!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 01/05/2017 19:49

And i love rocket

And baby groot.....i so want a baby groot

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/05/2017 19:52

It was very funny. I liked the first one and this second one was great. Rocket is excellent!

sakura06 · 01/05/2017 19:59

I enjoyed it. It was good fun, but it's not something that'll stay with me. A couple of hours of amusing entertainment. Groot is the best Smile

The first film is up there as one of my favourites ever though...

sakura06 · 01/05/2017 19:59

And I agree: not one for little kids! Some gory bits!

hazeyjane · 01/05/2017 20:02

Saw it with 10 and 11 year old dds, loved the first one and loved this one. I cried too!

We are going again with dh at the weekend (who was very pissed off about having to see Boss Baby with ds!)

Dd2 does keep saying, "I am famous for my enormous turds!" Followed by a big Drax laugh.

nancy75 · 01/05/2017 20:03

Op, if your child is 11 they will have heard much worse language at school!
We went today, dd age 11 loved it & dp & I found it funny and enjoyable but maybe not quite as good as the first one

nancy75 · 01/05/2017 20:04

I did feel a bit sniffly at the end, but that song always sets me off

whatstheplanphil · 01/05/2017 20:04

Loved it - went with a friend and our kids 9, 9 , 12 and 13 and we laughed our way through it - brilliant 🎬

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 01/05/2017 20:07

Loved it. Funny and moving. Rocket is excellent! Opening scene - Baby Groot just fab.

RebootYourEngine · 01/05/2017 20:09

I took ds 13 and his friends to see it. I would say that it should have been rated a 12 and not a 12a. There was a lot of violence/killing in it. And also what is with making films sooooooo long these days. A film used to last 90 minutes and now most of them are over 2 hours long.

Toffeelatteplease · 01/05/2017 20:15

If you're worried about bad language beware of any PGs from the 80s or early 90s.

As a society we have become much more prudish about these things.

And guardians is awesome!

Funko · 01/05/2017 20:19

Absolutely brilliant! I could have watched it again immediately afterwards!

I am a total marvel nerd though Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 01/05/2017 20:22

We watched it Saturday night. Loved it. Some parts were a bit slow, but others were very funny.

NotDavidTennant · 01/05/2017 20:29

I think it's one of those sequels that you'll like if you liked the first film, and won't if you didn't. I really enjoyed it.

Madeyemoodysmum · 01/05/2017 20:50

My9 yo and 11 yo loved it. Both not scared.

Only very mild swearing some sexual jokes but the 9yo didn't get that.
I enjoyed it lots more than first. Much funnier.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 01/05/2017 23:36

Went today with DH and DS2(10) and DD2(17). DD actually went to see it last night too, and I was all "Why would you want to see it again?"

Well having seen it, I would want to see it again. It is fab; I laughed and I cried and it's really not very scary and the swearing is pretty mild.

And Chris Pratt is gorgeous (but quite disturbingly so as he is a dead ringer for DD1's boyfriend).
