Have you ever walked out of the theatre or cinema? Why?

I was at the theatre last night. The play was 16+ and clearly stated it contained swearing and sexual references in its advertising and BOY did it. The people next to us walked out after the umpteenth wank joke and I was like Shock I've never seen that happen before. And surely if something states upfront what it's about you don't hoik your bosoms and get professionally offended and make for the exit?

The only time I ever left anything early was a Paolo Nutini gig. He was so off his face he could barely speak. Clung onto his mic stand all night as he couldn't stand straight.

Saw Jack Dee years ago. Most boring 'comedy' act I've ever seen. His entire set was made up of gags from a show of his that hadn't long been on tv. So we knew all the punchlines. Dozens of people didn't come back after the interval.

We managed about 20 minutes of Mama Mia. What a pile of crap! Julie Waters trying much too hard.

No but a woman once went mad berating out front of house at the interval of an am dram play we were doing.

Her problem? How dare we have a coffin on stage when she had been to her great aunt's funeral the day before.

I understand she may have been upset but a) we had been rehearsing the play for four months
b) we wouldn't have known she was coming let al

iklboo · 08/11/2016 17:45

*let alone that her great aunt had died

She didn't get her £5 refunded.

Yes I walked out a theatre performance, it contained offensive language and it did not say anywhere that it should be for 12 years+ or any kind of indication it would have bad language in it. I really think there should be age ratings on plays etc. like at the cinema.

When I was little my mum took me out of a pantomime as it had a big scary witch who was SPITTING at people in the front row of the audience! Disgusting!

I wanted to walk out of My Neighbour Totoro. Complete rubbish but everyone in the audience loved it. Their guffawing laughter made me crazy, I should have left but I thought I'd sit through it for DH. I'll never get that time back!

I have walked out of a production that I thought was shite...cant remember what it was now,,something to do with a raven and a house with a crack in it...
The fall of the house of Usher - that was it.
Dreadful performance.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/12/2016 03:49

We walked out of Atonement. I love James McAvoy but it was so boring and try-hard.

dylsmimi · 04/12/2016 06:11

Walked out of 2 films - thin red line and some Nicole Kidman oerios drama both as they were so dull
Wish I had walked out of eyes wide shit, vanilla sky, Wild Wild west and that Quentin Tarantino double bill with death proof - though j would've been on my own for that one as dh loved it

QueenLizIII · 17/12/2016 19:31

Walked out of Love & Friendship.

What utter bollocks

BlackNo1 · 17/12/2016 19:35

Yes. Zoolander.
The tickets were free but that wasn't the point.
As a pp already stated; life is too short for crap

spankhurst · 17/12/2016 19:35

I once went to The Nuckcracker in Covent Garden and left at the interval. It was lovely but I went alone and felt like a tit for some reason. I don't think I've ever left a film early.

TheNaze73 · 17/12/2016 21:51

Only ever left early twice & I go to the cinema 50 odd times a year. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle & Indecent Proposal.
Both utterly shit

Paddington68 · 17/12/2016 22:32

Went to see the midnight showing of Jackie Brown when it first came out. Lasted 30 minutes.

Bumbleclat · 18/12/2016 03:50

Walked out on Hostel- terrifying and disturbing.

ladybird69 · 18/12/2016 04:40

Went with daughters to watch Funny people with Adam Sandler, it wasn't funny it was worse than depressing, we waited to see if it got better but nope it didn't so we left and went for pizzas.
First date we went to watch elm street film years ago I screamed and ran out, I don't do horror films and my date had told me it wasn't that bad! Slept with light on for years and didn't see him ever again.

SapphireStrange · 28/12/2016 16:38

I walked out of a performance by some circus group at the Peacock in London. Not Cirque du Soleil, I don't think, but along those lines. It was toss. Felt my IQ dropping as I watched someone balance on a tower of chairs once (yay! Quite impressive. clap-clap), then again (OK, great, you can do it twice, well done, clap-clap), then again

Life was too short for that show.

Would have walked out of The English Patient but I was on a date. He loved it. I should have known then he wasn't for me. Grin

Matilda is fab, BTW.

Every, what Nick Cave song do they play in About Time?

BearFeet · 21/01/2017 10:20

Walked out the cinema once, The Guru. Theatre once, a band doing Queen covers. Was not good!
