I'm watching 'Sense and Sensibility'. It's so lovely. Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant being 'proper' and very intelligent.

Gigi
The Philadelphia Story

Preminstreltension · 17/11/2015 15:46

YY to Sense & Sensibility. Emma Thompson is the best onscreen crier ever. Proper snivelling with gulping Grin

Also 84 Charing Cross Road. The book is gorgeous.

I also love Big Night, the Glenn Miller Story and a lovely French film called Le Grand Chemin.

niminypiminy · 17/11/2015 15:53

Juliet Stevenson in Truly Madly Deeply does fantastic snotty crying.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2015 15:53

Agree that S&S is lovely, but ET should never have been cast as Elinor Dashwood - far, far too old.

Yes to Miss Pettigrew apart from Shirley H's ridiculous voice, which makes me want to scream.

Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice
Moonrise Kingdom
Juno

I really want to see 84 Charing Cross Road - the book is just gorgeous.

Legally blonde
Mama Mia
Grease
Some like it hot
Muriel's wedding

And recently:

Chef, great little film with Jon Favreau
Enough Said, with James Gandolfini
Sideways

NapoleonsNose · 17/11/2015 16:03

The Railway Children, original version with Jenny Agutter as Bobbie.

OnlyLovers · 17/11/2015 16:10

niminy, agreed, but the very best thing in that is George the pest-control man telling Nina he talks to his wife every day. 'And death shall have no dominion. We know that, don't we, me and you?'

I adore that film.

ggirl · 17/11/2015 16:15

Got to agree that About Time is my new favourite film..

niminypiminy · 17/11/2015 16:36

OnlyLovers my eyes fill up just thinking about it.

niminypiminy · 17/11/2015 16:37

Also, now we are talking of crying, Jenny Agutter running through the steam shouting 'my daddy, my daddy'

OnlyLovers · 17/11/2015 16:47

Oh God, niminy. Are we the same person? If not, then we are certainly film-watching soulmates. You should come round mine for a good blub at TMD and The Railway Children some time Grin

And Brief Encounter. That makes me blart too. Oh, and Cabaret. And Dead Poets Society when they all get on the desks and say 'O Captain, my captain.'

niminypiminy · 17/11/2015 16:51

Brief Encounter, 'I can't go on living like this'

Just been having a bit of a blub over this

A blub-fest sounds fab!

Donge13 · 17/11/2015 16:52

Dead poets society
Driving miss Daisy
Big
Gone with the wind

I love these

MorrisZapp · 17/11/2015 16:52
