Mine is the E.T flying scene. Makes me cry with happiness every time. Other favourites are the scene in Hook where the little lost boy believes in Peter and another when he gives the other lost boy the sword. What are yours?

I bloody HATE the 'Daddy, my Daddy' scene from The Railway Children.

Load of old tripe.

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 12:41

The final scene of The Shawshank Redemption however warms my rusty old cockles.

I sometimes wish you could see their faces as they hug though.

BawbagBiggins · 26/08/2015 12:46

Emma Thomson and the cd scene in Love Actually.

The end of Meet The Robinsons when he goes off with his new family (amazing score)

The end of The Mist when they're in the jeep.

The bit on Home when wee alian fella seems to be killed (huge sobs).

Watched a film called Little Boy the other day - sobbed buckets for most of it.

wickedlazy · 26/08/2015 12:52

The scene in mister Magoriums wonder imporium gets me too. Dustin Hoffman is a fabulous actor.

The Avengers: the long take of each Avenger doing their thing to fight the Chitari in New York, culminating in the Hulk punching Thor off screen. Makes me nerdily happy.
Also love the slow mo shot in the second film at the start when they all jump into the fray, not knowing that by the end of the film they will be a very different team.

Mr Hollands Opus when he sings and signs Beautiful Boy by John Lennon for his deaf son.

wickedlazy · 26/08/2015 13:00

Just realised in my earlier post I typed yodo instead of yoda. Apologies.

For me the best moment in some kind of wonderful (and it has so many) is when Watts tells Amanda she's sorry she misjudged her, and gives the two a minute, and Amanda then says she'd rather be alone for the right reasons than with someone for the wrong.

And how could I forget the ultimate feel good moment, ever! In it's a wonderful life, "Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for wings. Love, Clarence"

Oh yes Mr Hollands Opus. That's so moving too!

Heffalump movie when kanga sings to Roo about growing up.

CaptainKit · 26/08/2015 13:09

Totally stealing from ReadyPlayerOne's nerdily happy offering to add in one of the early scenes from Serenity, where it's one seamless shot going around the ship, introducing all of the crew as they got ready for a job. It's clearly a Joss Whedon specialty. This meant a lot to me as a watcher of Firefly, what little of that there was, as it was a perfect reintroduction to some much beloved characters.

Also adding the fairy dance scene from the live action Peter Pan. That and the 'I do believe in fairies' scene. Both were so lovely, and again the music just really made it for me.

Oooh I get to mention my favourite moment in a film. Richard gere picking up Debra winger and carrying her out of the factory in officer and a gentleman and her friend shouting , you go ....whatever her name was!

Nottingham hill where they all pile into the car and they've left thedisabledone. Go back for her and bung her in as well. Priceless.

Love actually...where the actor goes to Keira knightleys door and plays music and shows her his feelings onsomeboards. I don't know whether it's true or not but I have to be restrainedfromshouting...you're withrhe wrong guy!

The scene where she watched the wedding video as well.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 26/08/2015 13:35

Varies bits from the Green Mile and Forrest Gump

When Chief escapes in One Flew over the cuckoos nest

The end of Gran Torino

When Sally Field buries her daughter in Steel magnolias

nannyplumismyrolemodel · 26/08/2015 13:38

So many great ones already mentioned! "Captain my captain" has always been a go to sob moment of mine as has pretty much all of the notebook and beaches.
The goodies where they find the treasure and mikes tells them not to take the treasure in the scale as "that's willies " always gives me a happy flashback to childhood Smile
And as an adult the "you can't handle the truth!" Bit from a few good men is so good it's just like...yes!! ????

nannyplumismyrolemodel · 26/08/2015 13:39

Goodies and mikey! Sorry on stupid phone!

MonstrousPippin · 26/08/2015 13:43

This is a really strange one, but it gave me tears in my eyes when I watched it the other day with DH, probably because I grew up in a house that were big fans of Star Trek and had many geeky friends.

The end of Galaxy Quest where the geek kid finds out "it's not just a tv show, it's all real" and when the ship crashes and lands at the sci-fi convention. The sheer joy for all the geeks at the convention that their crazy sci-fi space fantasies are all real and that they aren't the sad bastards that society makes them out to be. Everyone thought they were boring and nerdy, but they were the only ones who believed and it turned out to be true!

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:46

'Love actually...where the actor goes to Keira knightleys door and plays music and shows her his feelings onsomeboards. I don't know whether it's true or not but I have to be restrainedfromshouting...you're withrhe wrong guy!'

I have to be restrained from shouting 'She's your best friend's wife you disloyal prick'.

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:47

Emma Thompson's stiff upper lip scene is great though.

ExBallerina · 26/08/2015 13:55

So so many here! I'm getting all emotional just reading these.

One I remember well-Now and Then, when they finally talk to Crazy Pete.

ExBallerina · 26/08/2015 13:56

Oh and like, every minute of Up.

dementedma · 26/08/2015 20:02

Ooh yes, the CD opening scene in Love Actually. Emma Thompson is brilliant.
Love the scene in Witness where Harrison Ford gets the car radio going and dances in the barn with whatshername.

Blackswanlake · 26/08/2015 20:09

dementedma I love that scene in Witness too Smile. The Barn Raising scene gets me every time .

CarpeJugulum · 26/08/2015 20:13

Monuments Men. In the church with Hugh Bonneville trying to save the statue.

dementedma · 26/08/2015 20:14

Witness is probably my all time favourite film Grin

Stanky · 26/08/2015 20:18

The end of Nanny McPhee, where the baby's broken silver rattle falls with the snow, all new again.

MamaLazarou · 26/08/2015 20:18

When LaFawnduh steps off the bus in Napoleon Dynamite.

I spent the first part of the film dreading LaFawnduh's appearance as I was convinced she would turn out to be a man, or hideous or awful. But she's FABULOUS and every scene with her in it is a delight. I love Kip's soppy face when she gives him the medallion. Awwww.

Stanky · 26/08/2015 20:21

The Snowman. Pretty much the entire film. The music takes me straight back to my childhood, and the animation is beautiful. Just to think that it was all hand drawn with pencils. Magical. :)
