Mine is the E.T flying scene. Makes me cry with happiness every time. Other favourites are the scene in Hook where the little lost boy believes in Peter and another when he gives the other lost boy the sword. What are yours?

Jaws Roy Schneider's reaction on seeing the shark for the first time, just the expression is classic followed by the legendry phrase 'you're gonna need a bigger boat' Shock

Yes, MiddleAge, that bit in Brassed Off is heartbreaking.

The end of Cyrano de Bergerac where Roxanne realises that it is too dark for Cyrano to be able to read her letter, and it dawns on her that he wrote it. And he takes up his sword and battles his old enemies.

The end of A Month in the Country when Birkin returns to look at the wall painting as an old man.

The Railway Children is a lovely film but by the time it got to the 'my Daddy' scene, I think I was too distracted by them carrying on like Perks is an ancient old man and him grumbling about being really old, and then it's his 42nd birthday! Forty-Two!! ShockHmmGrin

In Tangled when they let off the floating lanterns. Also in Tangled at the end when Rapunzel gets reunited with her parents.

My Girl made me howl. As did Truly, Madly, Deeply and Gorillas in the Mist.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned The Sound of Music when Maria comes back from the Abbey and joins in with the singing.

Also High Society when Grace Kelly marries Bing Crosby at the end. I have really fond memories of that film because it was my dad's favourite.

When Hubble hugs Katie after spotting her on the street, protesting.

She asks him to dinner, where he can meet Rachel, their daughter.

He tells her he can't, and the sadness and regret in both of their faces as they hug makes me weepy.

Spirited Away when Chihiro discovers Haku is the spirit of a river where she nearly drowned as a child - he rescued her and has been watching over her ever since.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, a lovely scene where Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh's characters admit they have had feelings for each other they never acted on. And the ending.

High Fidelity when Rob puts his headphones on and Stevie Wonder kicks in.

Imitation of Life. The funeral scene, enough said

Another one, Star Wars episode 6, right at the end, when we see Vadar, Yodo and Obi-Wan standing together.

When John Lynch (as Paul Hill) pushes past the guards and says "I'm going out the front door...with Gerry" (Conlon, another fantastic Daniel Day Lewis performance)- in In the Name of the Father

Keith and Watts' practice kiss in "Some Kind of Wonderful

Celie and Nettie reunited in The Colour Purple

O Captain, my Captain from Dead Poets Society

The voiceover at the end of 'the breakfast club'

"Brian Johnson: [closing narration] Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
Andrew Clark: ...and an athlete...
Allison Reynolds: ...and a basket case...
Claire Standish: ...a princess...
John Bender: ...and a criminal...
Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club."

This scene in The Abyss. Couple on point of divorce. But do love each other. Trapped in a mini sub and had to swim back to main underwater structure but only one suit/breathing app. Virgil the husband is the stronger swimmer and takes lynsay back knowing her heart will stop and he'll have to revive here. This is during the revival when the med person has given up said she can't be revived. Virgil takes over.

Virgil: Goddammit, you bitch! You never backed away from anything in your life! Now fight!
[slaps Lindsey]
Virgil: Fight!
[slaps Lindsey again]
Virgil: Fight! Right now! Do it! Fight goddammit! Fight! Fight! Fiiiiight!

Dirty dancing, not a scene most people refer to but the one where baby goes to her dad and says 'you let me down too'

Pretty woman when Vivian is saying goodbye to kit at the end. Also 'no wonder you came looking for me'

Goonies "its our time down here"

Die hard "only John could drive someone that crazy" her reassurance that he's still alive and that while he drives her nuts she loves him.

I know tom cruise is hated on mn but I love his films. Cocktail 'youre on your own' 'that's the only way I want it' and Doug's suicide letter.

Planes trains and automobiles when Neal realises Del is alone and when we realise his wife died.

Oh good lord yes, 'Captain, my captain...' 'Thankyou boys, thank you'

Every year I watch Its A Wonderful Life...it's a Christmas tradition. And every year I find something new in this film. It's just perfect....'I want to live again.' Or 'To my big brother George, the richest man in town...'

I can't watch The Color Purple anymore. Last time I cried 4 times.

I also sob during the first 5 minutes of the Lion King. Think it's the music...

I like the bit at the end of Bridget Jones Diary when she runs out into the snow after Colin Firth and he takes her in his arms and wraps his coat around her to keep her warm Envy.

The epic scenes which form the battle of Helms Deep in LoTR are amazing, and the final rallying call from Aragorn to his troops outside the gatesnof Mordor when he says that"one day, the courage of men will fail.....but it shall not be this day!"

Oh gawd, there are so many, and a whole lot of them have already been mentioned, so I'll just go with two that haven't come up yet.

One that always sets my spine tingling and which I've not seen on this list, is the moment in the first Jurassic Park where they're in the jeep, coming over the hill and it's the first time Alan and Ellie see the dinosaurs. The score soars into that classic Jurassic Park theme, and we the audience are swept up in their amazement. (Plus I was still young(ish) when I first saw it, and I hadn't yet been spoiled with millions of CGI dinos and monsters, so it was rather impressive to me too!)

A really, REALLY cheesy one for me is the ending of Austenland. It's not the best film in the world, but I love it! At the end, Jane's got home to her apartment and is taking all her Mr Darcy things down, her lifelong obsession finally burst. The saddest, most beautiful song is playing (Emmy the Great - Comic Books, check it out on youtube) and she's trying to figure out who the hell she is now. There's a knock at the door and she thinks it's her friend come round to welcome her back so she yells for her to let herself in. Turns out it's the dishy Brit she thought she liked back in Austenland (a big Austen-themed roleplay type holiday - details so not important!). He's come after her, and gives her back the book she left behind. The bit that takes my breath away each time is when she says 'you could have mailed it' and he's all taken aback, and has this momentary realisation that actually she might not be into him. It's so humble, and so much the opposite of the arrogant, self-confident leading man, and I just find it so endearing that he's done this big overblown gesture and for a brief moment is just massively deflated as he realises that he doesn't automatically get the girl just because he's there. He does, obviously, get the girl in the end, but that moment of doubt is just so real and so beautiful in a film filled with cheesiness and over-acting and lots of self-mockery.

In the first Narnia film when they are crossing the melting waterfall and fall into the river, then they come up on a block of ice holding onto Peter's sword. That bit always makes my heart soar.
