Ooh I saw that film Shelduck by the same guy who did Fucking Amal. It was a great film.

hairtoday I am going to listen to those now thanks, love Mark Kermode (his recent review of Entourage movie made me laugh).

Thought of another one...Sinnerman Nina Simone Thomas Crown Remake
(bloody love this film, one of the few that beats the original but I am having a huge crush on Pierce Brosnan atm) it was also used in Scrubs and a remix in miami vice remake but I heard it the art heist scene first. Sublime.

Anything by Craig Armstrong!

Also had it work the other way,my godmother always used to play the soundtrack to Peter's Friends when we were on holiday and finally got round to watching it last year.

PennyPinkleton · 03/08/2015 06:53

"Goodnight Moon" by Shivaree and "Malagueña Salerosa" by Chingon, both from Kill Bill 2

CrimsonSunrise · 03/08/2015 09:31

SmartAlec - No the Goldsmith score really does nothing for the film, especially with the dancing dress scene, the tangerine dream music works so much better there. Also can't find any other Legend fans haha! Sadly the copy of the film I have on dvd is American (all others only had the Goldsmith score) so wont play on any device I own Sad

Ohh I'll look the other film you mentioned up and give it a watch!

CrimsonSunrise · 03/08/2015 09:35

Thatsnotaknife:- Ohhh another Legned fan! Agreed the Goldsmith score was crap. I was about 7 when I first saw Legend in the 90s... My dad had recorded it onto a vhs as he'd figured it sounded like a film I'd love (unicorns were my favourite mythical beast) Needless to say I was enchanted.

Tweezertastic · 03/08/2015 11:02

I've just listened to in your eyes. I plan to buy the film asap

Wes Anderson generally has great soundtrack. I like the The Kinks but hadn't heard one until seeing Darjeeling Limited.

(This time tomorrow)

OnlyLovers · 03/08/2015 11:16

Outro by M83 from Tracks.

It seems that I was the last person on earth to find out about this song, though; now that I know it, I hear it EVERYWHERE: ads, trailers, BBC self-publicity clips ...

I do still love it though.

There are lots of good songs in A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

Also from Only Lovers Left Alive (yes, that is where my username is from!)

Enb76 · 03/08/2015 11:19

Oh, and I discovered Sia via Grey's Anatomy with a Kinks cover (Go to Sleep)

donyourway · 03/08/2015 11:32

I discovered the amzingness of Elliott Smith from the film Good Will Hunting. Now i have all his albums.

KatherineMumsnet · 03/08/2015 13:22

With the kind permission of the OP, we are going to move this lovely thread over to our even lovelier Films topic in a mo.

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 03/08/2015 20:23

CrimsonSunrise - yes I had the same problem I think, the Dvd I got was region 1. I think I managed to watch it on a laptop. I believe there is a way to unlock Dvd players from their set region if you Google the model number - quite legit I believe but have never got round to it myself.

Yes, the dance scene! When I first saw Legend I was absolutely mesmerised by that, the TD music is perfect. When I saw it in tv years later I was really looking forward to it and got a shock when the rubbish JG music came on in that scene, it really ruined it for me. Can't actually watch the film at all now with the JG score.

Reading this thread is giving me some happy times on YouTube Smile

SmartAlecMetalGit · 03/08/2015 20:30

For the Legend fans, if you have a blu-ray player you can get a region free US import version on Amazon which has the TD soundtrack.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 03/08/2015 21:06

Mine are a bit Hmm

I've got Wonderful World by Sam Cooke-from the canteen scene in Animal House. Years on this is still, to me, the perfect marrying of action/soundtrack and still makes me grin thinking of it (I recently bought dvd to show son what we had to do for fun in Olden Days and was HORRIFIED to find they'd changed it, to some rawk shite iirc)

Oh and Shrek was the first time I noticed Hallelujah, and that version (John cale??)is still my definitive version. Because shrek

"Jane Wiedlin" I'm partial to her Rush Hour which IIRC features on one of the Rush Hour films, along with War but can't remember who sang it (Edwin Starr?)

GrouchyKiwi · 03/08/2015 22:40

On the actual film of Shrek it is John Cale's version of "Hallelujah" but on the soundtrack album it's Rufus Wainwright's. I always thought that was odd.

Highlandbird · 03/08/2015 22:44

The Eddie vedder soundtrack to 'into the wild' thought the film did great justice to the book and the soundtrack is beautiful.

Tweezertastic · 04/08/2015 17:10

I bought say anything yesterday because of this thread. I love the Peter Gabriel song. It brings me to tears nearly
