I love this from Adventureland

OP posts:

Music for a found harmonium - in She's having a baby

Most of the songs in the soundtrack to 'Good morning Vietnam' - music that was before my time but I loved when I saw the film.

peagreen · 02/08/2015 20:00

Home' by the Foo Fighters, which is on the Shaun the Sheep movie soundtrack Blush!

BettyRooster · 02/08/2015 20:00

This version is better

I really recommend it

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 02/08/2015 20:01

"Sunday Morning" by The Velvet Underground from "Love and Other Catastrophes". Brilliant film and a great soundtrack.

TiggyD · 02/08/2015 20:02

I found the band Reel Big Fish from the film Baseketball. 3rd wave ska/Californian garage band.

tatumsfunkychicken · 02/08/2015 20:02

The songs from Drive

I hadn't heard "Hallelujah" before Shrek came out. I love Rufus Wainwright's version. Also "My Beloved Monster and Me" by The Eels.

ISpeakJive · 02/08/2015 20:22

Kissing You by Desiree from Romeo + Juliet

JAPAB · 02/08/2015 20:27

Just remembered that I liked "Down to the River to Pray" from O Brother Where Art Thou, even though I am normally indifferent to gospel type music. Another exception to that rule is "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", the version sung by a woman whose name I do not know.

Arkengarthdale · 02/08/2015 20:27

Ooo yes Hallelujah in Shrek. Also Sarah McLaughlin (sp?) Angel from City of Angels. Loved that song so much got the music and taught myself it on the piano. My voice isn't /quite/ as good as hers though Grin

dreamingofblueskies · 02/08/2015 20:49

Every single Baz Luhrmann film has an amazing soundtrack. My favourite is the bit at the very beginning of Romeo & Juliet 'O Verona' which is used on lots of things, I think it's used on The X-Factor?

liquidrevolution · 02/08/2015 21:32

Nick cave and the bad seeds 'O Children' from the last Harry Potter film Blush

but I had always dismissed his music after the Kylie collaboration in the 90s so this made me listen to him a bit more and now I have the cd in the car.

Paul Buchannan 'Mid Air' from the About time film

and M83 'outro' from the persil advert with the girl having paint thrown at her.

Preminstreltension · 02/08/2015 21:43

An obscure Stevie Wonder /Syreeta track called Harmour Love from a film called Junebug. I'm a huge SW fan but had never heard of it and now it's one of my desert island discs.

CheesyDibbles · 02/08/2015 21:46

New Slang by The Shins from Garden State
Chicago by Sufjan Stevens from Little Miss Sunshine
Most of the Big Lebowski soundtrack
Blood by the Middle East from Crazy Stupid Love

CheesyDibbles · 02/08/2015 21:47

Oh, and The Rider Song by Nick Cave from The Proposition.

pinkpepperpod · 02/08/2015 21:55

Accidentally In Love by The Counting Crows from Shrek 2 and
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away by Eddie Vedder from I Am Sam

Hobbes8 · 02/08/2015 22:04

This Woman's Work by Kate Bush from She's Having a Baby. It's not a particularly good film but that song makes me wah.

Yes to the Polyphonic Spree in Scrubs! Also Colin James Hay features on the Scrubs soundtrack a lot. I especially like Waiting for my Real Life to Begin.

Sgtmajormummy · 02/08/2015 22:31

Chopin's "Raindrops" (it has an official name) in the Alien prequel Prometheus. There was also a Fazioli piano artfully featured in the captain's escape pod.
I found the sheet music, handed it to DS and he played it straight off ("It's not actually that hard, Mum"). I freely admit, there were tears of pride and now it's gone from obscurity to one of my favourite tunes.

hairtoday1 · 02/08/2015 22:37

This isn't what you asked but Can I recommend these two podcasts. First is brilliant.

itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/mark-kermode-soundtrack-my/id993682135?mt=2

"Mark Kermode leads a tour through soundtracks from his favourite movies, including orchestral scores, electronic music, songs from musicals and sound effects from another world"

And a friend just recommended this: itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/sound-of-cinema/id705853625?mt=2

'Series of programmes exploring Film music'

YY to In Your Eyes from Say Anything.

Also

limitedperiodonly · 02/08/2015 22:52

And from Se7en.

ThomasRichard · 02/08/2015 22:53

I Need You from Divergent. It's a fantastic running track, oddly.

Shelduck · 02/08/2015 23:05

Really not a big Abba fan, but love "S.O.S." since watching "Together" - fantastic Swedish feelgood film. Plays over end credits, and I came out of the cinema feeling amazing.

Also, "Little Water Song" (Ute Lemper, written by Nick Cave) in "Romance and Cigarettes". My most favourite murder ballad! Smile

Paisaje from an Argentinian movie called Viudas sang by Vicentico.
The younger actress in the movie is his wife in real life.
Song is Italian but I've only heard it in Spanish
