The lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox have given us a pile of DVDs to giveaway and we thought it was a nice chance to pull together your favourite and best DVDs for the whole family.

We all have snuggly DVD days evenings and with April showers on the horizon, we thought it would be great to hear about your best loved films to share.

What family friendly films do you watch over and over again?

Is there a great film for children that you don't mind watching with them or even better a film that will keep them transfixed when you need five minutes?

Share your suggestions on the thread and we will pick a name out of a hat on Tuesday 10th March for one lucky winner to get a whole bundle of DVDs.

Good luck.

Tangled is one that we always return to.

We are trying to wean them onto classics now.

lhlee62 · 06/03/2015 20:42

We love all of the Toy Story films, Despicable me and Frozen. They were on loop at one point but at least they are good for adults as well

feefeegabor · 06/03/2015 20:47

We all love The Goonies and the Back to the Future films.

freefan · 06/03/2015 20:55

trueclaret85 · 06/03/2015 20:57

Despicable me is great fun for the whole family and never gets boring

hohummmmm · 06/03/2015 20:57

In our house just now it's Maleficent and Cat on the Hat on a loop. Luckily I enjoy both. Was very surprised at how much I enjoyed Maleficent.

KandSWh · 06/03/2015 21:06

The Despicable Me films are a favourite with all of us and we also love Megamind. A new favourite is the Lego movie too.

barker99 · 06/03/2015 21:55

Lion King and Wallace and Gromit

clippityclop · 07/03/2015 04:16

Nothing nicer than to enjoy a film together and talk about it afterwards. Our family favourites, loved by three generations here all have great music and fantastic family/friendship based storylines;
Fly Away Home
Jumanji
Pollyanna
Anything from the Disney stable.
And in was in Holiday Inn (White Christmas) and Easter Parade.

sweetlips113 · 07/03/2015 09:33

all the toy story's and the sponge movie DS loves spongebob

SuperFlyHigh · 07/03/2015 10:41

Ice Age, Toy Story, Dennis (hilarious if you haven't seen it!), Wizard of Oz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

SuperFlyHigh · 07/03/2015 10:42

Ah jumanji is great too (bit scary for younger dcs?!) and the lady and the tramp.

Sleepyfergus · 07/03/2015 14:18

It varies. For a time it was Matilda, then Nanny McPhee. Bit at the moment it is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the J Depp one) for DD2 and either of 'How to Tame your Dragon' movies for DD1.

I enjoy most kids films although I'm starting to fatigue of CatCF as it's on non stop at the mo, plus we've got the soundtrack in the car on as infinitum!

The only film that I despise is Horrid Henry the Movie. Complete and utter drivel.

DoTheStrand · 07/03/2015 14:28

At christmas, Arthur Christmas and Elf (actually, not just at christmas).

DS1 is 5.5 and his absolute favourite film is Night at the Museum.

Am looking forward to Shaun the Sheep coming out on DVD as he and his little brother (3) were both transfixed at the cinema when we saw it during half term.

WhatAHooHa · 07/03/2015 14:49

Our kids range from 4 months to 15 years, (admittedly the 4 month old doesn't seem to care what's on but the next one up does) and our favourites are Stardust, Despicable Me, How To Train Your Dragon, Nanny McPhee, Golden Compass, Toy Story (all of them!), The Lion King, Ice Age, Cars, and after all these years, The Goonies still rules!

mynellie · 07/03/2015 17:03

batteries not included
how to train your dragon
any of the ice age films
shrek

NotCitrus · 07/03/2015 18:07

Ds age 6 won't watch anything 'scary' so won't re-watch the Lego movie or Muppets ones.
Recent hits have been Wallace & Gromit and now Shaun the Sheep, Ice Age 3, Star Wars original trilogy and oddly Singing in the Rain. Dd age 3 loves Wizard of Oz and Jungle Book, which ds will now stay in the room for.

BuzzardBird · 07/03/2015 18:12

The new Shaun the Sheep movie is just short enough and contains enough jokes that go over DD's head to keep adults happy and lovely enough and short enough for children to enjoy without getting bored.
