I can leave my 2 boys (twins) at the gym for 3 hours and go to the local shopping centre just enough time for the pictures. Some of my friends think I am mad going alone, what can you do if all your friends are at work!!!

My dh goes to the cinema by himself.

gomez · 24/02/2006 14:06

I go by myself sometimes, usually for some arty-farty flick that DH can't be ar*ed sitting through. It is great - I usually manage to sneak a couple of glasses of wine in too!

Enjoy.

DumbledoresGirl · 24/02/2006 14:08

I have just started doing so after years and years of thinking I couldn't because dh and I couldn't get a babysitter. It is OK, but I miss having someone to talk about the film with afterwards.

bakedpotato · 24/02/2006 14:33

Ach, DG, that's what MN is for (mind you I am still waiting for the 'Hidden' discussion to kick off)
I go on my own all the time

bakedpotato · 24/02/2006 14:36

in fact I was so desperate to discuss Hidden that Bundle kindly put me in touch with her DH
I think he had gone on his own too

mummytosteven · 24/02/2006 14:37

I should this of an evening really. I used to go on my own during the day on mat leave, and it was fab.

nailpolish · 24/02/2006 14:39

fimbo - did you come on here wondering if it was Flicks or The Flicks too ?

meggmoo · 24/02/2006 14:39

Alway go alone, always have. Don't want dh or anyone else for that matter trying to talk whilst I escape watching the screen. Everyone who knows that I go think that it is weird.

Went last week to see Final Destination, utter cheese - was brill.

meggmoo · 24/02/2006 14:40

BP. HIdden??

bakedpotato · 24/02/2006 14:49

Love solo cinema visits. DH is a bit of a prat about films, won't commit himself to anything that he doesn't already know his opinion about and if I force him he resolutely refuses to enjoy it. So I say sod him and go by myself on rare afternoons off, which is utter luxury.

PS I do have friends Grin but it takes three weeks of organising to get together so prefer drinking and chatting.

winnie · 28/02/2006 21:05

Yep, I go to the cinema alone. It's great :)

BadHair · 28/02/2006 21:21

Used to pre-children. Loved it. You can really concentrate on the film and not worry that your dp is snoring/eating/slurping next to you.

Beetroot · 28/02/2006 21:22

notasheep · 28/02/2006 22:19

Never had the courage to go alone, people may think I am billy no mates LOL, I would not have the confidence to go alone but "good on ya " those that do.
x Dawn

MarsOnLife · 06/03/2006 18:38

Yup!

moondog · 06/03/2006 18:38

Oh God yes!
Love a solo trip.
Best in the day, when the oiks aren't out though.

DumbledoresGirl · 06/03/2006 18:39

Dawn, it is embarrassing standing in the queue alone, but once you are in, it really makes no odds.

Chozzer · 06/03/2006 19:43

I book online don't have to speak to anyone! quicker but costs an extra 65p!

I often go alone. If not I would not see half the movies I fancy. I have never been in the evening though always in the day and it is surprising how many lone movegoers there are

chestnutty · 06/03/2006 21:00

Dh went on his own to see lucky no slevin yesterday very much alone - there was no one else in the cinema. The usher came in part way through to make sure he was still there!

sis · 06/03/2006 21:02

another one for going on my own during the day.
