Are we so focused on predatory males in positions of power praying on vulnerable women & girls - that we lose sight of the fact it can happen the other way around.

How many more of these evil women are hiding in the shadows...?

The male victims of these relational offenders are the most unlikely to recognise what happened to them as abusive and/or illegal. That means they are least likely to formally report in a fashion that would align with conviction rates.

They are also called heterosexual nurturers in other studies and are thought to likely be the most common type of female sex offender if all crimes of this nature were reported.

Another one I spotted over the weekend. Reading it, it appears she was given a suspended sentence because she was able to walk out of court, so she wasn't sent to jail.

She got 4.5 years

But she 'walked out of court' - which implies that it was a suspended sentence.
Otherwise she would have been 'sent down' - so she basically gets nothing

I might be wrong, but I doubt its a case that you are allowed to go home first and turn up at the jail in a few days time to start your sentence.

I googled her name and other articles seem to be clearer in the fact she was jailed. I think her husband left the court and was asked for comment but declined.

The first paragraph says she was ‘jailed for four and a half years’

Agree. Genuinely very surprised to see some pp minimising sexual offending by women, I thought we were past those days.

Not trying to make it sound too lenient to a female perpetrator then?

I used to have a job relating to teaching tribunals. The number of cases involving male teachers behaving inappropriately towards pupils is shocking – to the extent it used to make me think men shouldn't be allowed to teach girls (and I had some wonderful male teachers when I was at school). Most of these cases don't seem to make the news. The proportion of female teachers doing the same is really low, which is why it makes headlines when it happens as it's so shocking. You're right that it's horrific and should be treated with equal seriousness. However, it is still really uncommon for a woman to sexually abuse kids.
