Another woman drugged and raped by husband for years

From the BBC.

So much to take away from this I don’t know where to start.

I suppose one is “Why are men like this ? What is wrong with them ?”

I know it’s partly that they don’t see us as people. But this is more than that. He was an abuser in pretty much every way. But the drugging and the rape seems even more extreme - what is wrong with a person that they would do this ?

I also saw that he has confessed to his private psychiatrist - who did nothing.

As someone who has had therapy I understood they were to report anything that could cause harm to me or others ? Why did this not happen ?

Appalling. Again.

And she was failed by so many people- those he told, and the police.

Sorry yes - I meant to add a link. Thank you.

This is what I was referring to. What is psychologically wrong with these men ?

I read that article and don’t understand why his psychiatrist didn’t raise a safeguarding concern. Because surely a patient confessing to committing a crime is the exception to the general rule of confidentiality within talking therapy. At the very least that should be professional misconduct on the part of the psychiatrist. And the initial CPS decision? Give me strength. That brave, brave woman.

The arrogance and depravity are mind boggling! What sort of person gets sexual gratification from drugging and raping the person they supposedly love?
Was the therapist a man? Why on earth did they not report this criminal act ?
This poor woman has been utterly betrayed by both.

Heard the 'File on Four' radio program and as well as of course fury at that man... I am SO angry with the doctors and therapists and the psychiatrist who did not see any need to either call the police or tell that poor woman she was being abused and to run for the hills!!! I just can't believe it

When you sign up to therapy or see a counsellor you are told in words of one syllable that if you disclose something that is a safeguarding concern they have a duty to report

Minieggsarecrack · 14/05/2025 14:01

Surely the therapist the rapist confessed to will also be investigated and/or struck off?

It someone from Nuffield health I think they said, and there was a bland statement about patient confidentiality meaning they couldn't go into further details
