Tunnocks!

And I made the same resolution! Currently sat in my pjs though!

YEP to tunnocks, yep on my bed in pj’s considering what to do or not…

Magpiecomplex · 01/01/2025 10:33

Happy new year everyone! I'm hoping for a new job this year. But it has to be the right job.

Now, Boily, how do I translate the Bluestocking Diet into real life?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2025 10:44

Happy new year morning to you all!

Any diet-related resolutions never start on jan 1st for me because it's my birthday (1 000 000 000 today!Grin) - sometimes we go out to lunch but this year DD and DH are making something so I've been banished from the kitchen.

Bannedontherun · 01/01/2025 10:48

Happy birthday errol

AlisonDonut · 01/01/2025 10:50

Happy Birthday Errol.

We still have madelines. Grin

Happy birthday, Errol. Try not to think if you DD and DH as gerbils.

AlisonDonut · 01/01/2025 10:55

Oh and I've already defrosted and cleaned out both freezers, and binned stuff we were never going to use. Which was minimal and all composted.

Now to work on taking down the tree.

We may have an issue when Errol tries to blow out her candles...

I think you have to cover everything in washing up liquid!

Now remember with the cake blow out air not flames

I see its going to be as arduous for you as it is was for me!

DeanElderberry · 01/01/2025 11:21

I went to mass (yes! I got out of bed! I put my clothes on! I lit a candle for everyone - see the vipers thread) and the priest said his mother always said no-one should make a new year's resolution at the start of January as you'd never plant anything then, wait until February.

sound out

He also had the 90-year-old patchwork blanket his grannie made, tucked round the baby in the crib.

And I haven't eaten anything yet, though my hot drinks had milk in them, and am really looking forward to cheese omelette for lunch.

Happy birthday @ErrolTheDragon! Diets definitely go out of the window on birthdays - I had coffee cake on mine, and treacle tart for pudding.

My diet seems to be doing some good - my blood sugars are better, and people think I’ve lost some weight. Ds1 has those farmhouse chairs with arms at their dinner table, and previously my arse did not fit in them - and now it does! It’s a tight fit, but still progress.

There are a number of treats in the house - birthday presents and Christmas treats - but I’m planning to make these last for aaaaages. I did buy myself a tin of Monty Bojangles chocolate truffles - mainly because I wanted the pink cat tin, so dh has hidden the truffles away from me.

Happy Birthday Errol! 🎉💐

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2025 15:32

DH and DD made Venetian duck ragu with pappardelle, followed by blackberry and apple crumble with custard (waitrose finest) - very nice it was too. And her BF then did the clearing up.

I think we'll be on cheese and fruit this evening!Grin

DeanElderberry · 01/01/2025 15:37

Happy Birthday Erroll. You share the day with my uncle, who I would always have phoned, but alas, he can't take calls any more. He'd have been 91 this year, so not a bad innings.

WhiteHairedMyrtle · 01/01/2025 16:45

Happy birthday, Erroll!

I am also looking for a new job in 2025 but it's quite demoralising.

We are eating all the cheese. Everything has to be finished by Friday night then we can start to work on losing the Christmas stone and then the rest of the weight by the end of 2025. I am annoyed I've put on a stone in three weeks but it should come off quite quickly once I stop eating bread and drinking alcohol.

Boiledbeetle · 01/01/2025 17:04

I got on the scales earlier (might as well see what my 2025 starting weight is) and I'm a whole pound lighter than before the Christmas splurge! Must be the excessive tribble consumption (Good for bowel movement it appears!)

I shall rectify the loss by eating Tunnocks for tea.

Edited

Unfortunately I succumbed to a "mystery cheese box" which is arriving on Friday, so the eating of cheese will be an ongoing challenge!

I found some mexican cheesy balls with chilli sauce in the freezer today so I had half of them for tea. Bloody gorgeous.

Tree still up. I need to find a new box to put it all in. I now have home made pottery festive decorations to add to it this year.

WhiteHairedMyrtle · 01/01/2025 21:55

Tree comes down on Sunday. Leftovers and chocolate to be finished before Saturday. We still have some trifle and cheese. Not together, in case you were wondering. The Christmas cake hasn't been opened yet.
