I'm a bit confused about what Kate Nash is going on about.

Apparently in order to raise money for her tour, she's selling images of her arse on Only fans.

She says:

that the reaction so far has been “overwhelmingly supportive”, with just a few “non-liberal feminists” criticising her decision

I'm wondering if she's one of those women who thinks any old crap a woman does is feminist. She says it shows she's got 'agency'.

I'm getting fed up with the idea that selling sex, posing half naked and having an Only fans account is seen as empowered.

I don't think it's empowering. I think it's doing exactly what society has always made women out to be, objects for men to leer at.

Beebopmoon · 27/11/2024 11:41

Who's Kate Nash?

JazzyJelly · 27/11/2024 12:10

If it actually gave you power, men would do their damnedest to stop us.

ThatIsNotMyNameSoWhyAreYouCallingMeThat · 27/11/2024 13:43

Not a coincidence that she has a song called Hey, Arsehole.

LlynTegid · 27/11/2024 14:43

I don't agree with her decision. I agree with her about the costs of touring and how much seems to go to people other than the musicians, ticket sales companies such as Ticketmaster for example.

TheSilkWorm · 27/11/2024 14:57

She thinks men can be women if they want to so 🤷🏼‍♀️

SidhuVicious · 27/11/2024 20:10

Lol

ByHardyRubyEagle · 27/11/2024 20:11

I mean, I agree with you OP.

soupfiend · 27/11/2024 20:12

I cant get into the article due to ad blocker, who is she?

Thevelvelletes · 27/11/2024 21:03

She had hit song years ago called "foundations".

SD1978 · 27/11/2024 21:08

It's not empowering to seek arse pictures. Do it if you want, but don't pretend you have the control- men are buying them and ultimately therefore have the control in the sales numbers.

Circumferences · 27/11/2024 21:12

It's quite sad and desperate, she obviously can't make money writing and performing music...

Baddaybigcloud · 27/11/2024 21:16

Her problem isn’t the music industry, it’s the fact she’s a one hit wonder from 15years ago. I don’t think it’s empowering - it’s grotty and desperate.

MrDarlingtonsPie · 27/11/2024 21:18

So very empowering to sell photos of your arse for men to wsnk over. What an icon. Grin

Xmasmunkeh · 27/11/2024 21:19

I mean, if you have to sell arse photos to fund a tour then maybe you're just not popular or successful enough to be touring?

AreolaGrande · 27/11/2024 21:19

Tragic.

At her big age as well.

Eurgh.

saltysandysea · 27/11/2024 21:21

Lily Allen claims she makes more money selling pictures of her feet than she died from her music on Spotify. Maybe it is the industry.

Ha ha, how right you are.

I've never heard of her either, but the BBC also seems to think this is important news.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 27/11/2024 21:39

I'm actually really disappointed she'd do something like this. She always seemed like an artist who marched to the beat of her own drum.

menopausalmare · 27/11/2024 21:40

It's probably an easier career -booster than eating gonads in the jungle with a bunch of 'celebrities'.

TiramisuThief · 27/11/2024 21:42

She was really good in G.L.O.W.

I think she is being slightly disingenuous about the source of her financial troubles tbh

Her ex manager defrauded her for a long time and for a lot of money.

WomensSports · 28/11/2024 10:53

Sadly she's not making any money from touring so she's making her money elsewhere. I really don't think it's a good idea to sell pictures of yourself when you're already a semi-famous person because you've got all the obsessive creeps with the potential to stalk you, the info about you out there in the public domain that means they can find you, and none of the money for security to protect you from them. So I think it's a bad move for her, regardless of the feminism or otherwise.

TheBunyip · 28/11/2024 11:17

her fingertips are holding onto the cracks in her foundations

username8348 · 28/11/2024 11:32

I'm wondering why male musicians aren't doing this. Surely they're also struggling to afford to go on tour.
