I want him not to be able to give me the flannel that we have to be kind to the woMen. I want assurances that we do t have to share our spaces. I want to not sound like the very nervous person that am I!

Any help appreciated?

I was applauding you, OP; you didn't once let him off the hook and he was clearly squirming and dodging. Five years of PM Starmer? Not for me.

@Harassedevictee I believe 3rd spaces are the way to go as well. However, it's not always possible - small cafes for example. Some cafes only have 1 loo for everyone to share. Some have 2 loos, male and female. Should they now have to provide a 3rd one, at extra cost and using up more space? I was thinking of this when listening earlier to an interview with Angela Rayner, when she was pushed repeatedly on what a transwoman should do in a restaurant with male/female loos and she wouldn't give a direct answer, just kept saying everyone deserved respect (irrelevant), and the restaurant should provide for everyone's needs (not always possible). Plus we know that some transwomen refuse to use 3rd spaces.

Wasn't that Bridget Phillipson with Nick Ferrari?

Jane is now getting applause from Australia & this from America: 'As an American, I would like Jane to run for President.'

@JanefromLondon1 Bet you didn't think your day would go like this when you woke up this morning. #NationalTreasure

He has more important things to think about than this. I wish folk would stop banging this drum. It really is getting on my nerves. Its not a huge issue for most women IMHO. It is an issue but not an important one. If I was an athlete I'd think it was important. Or in prison but I'm not.

You will never be an athlete I'm guessing, but you too could end up,in prison. The postmasters all thought they were golden. And I and others care that women are right now locked up in prison with men.
They matter too

ActivePeony · 28/06/2024 17:14

Oh but this is just brilliant! All this over an issue that no one cares about, eh? 🤔

allaboardtheplaybus · 28/06/2024 17:18

Go Jane!

"If I was an athlete I'd think it was important. Or in prison but I'm not."

Lucky bloody you.

If you are a woman:

If you're in women's toilets it affects you
If you're in women changing rooms it affects you
If you're receiving intimate care it affects you
If you have conservative religious beliefs if affects you
If you're a victim of domestic violence it affects you,
If you're a victim of sexual violence it affects you.

Whether you're a man or woman it affects you if

You're gay,
You have school age children,
You have a child or children who are gay,
If you have a relative you care for who is elderly or disabled and vulnerable to her carers
If you beleive in the biology of sex then it affcets in life and work if you wish to speak out.

Vote how you like but don't selfishly moan about the concerns of literally millions of others.

Jane you absolute legend, thank you so much for finding the courage to do that, another here who’s spoiling their ballot.

Inthesummertimewhen · 28/06/2024 17:21

Im really disappointed by the slippery responses.

When I saw the shaw education secretary being asked the same question on Sunday, she went hard, you could see her demeanour change.
I feel this is an irritating thorn in their side, a non issue and an irritating issue that's stopping them from doing what they want which is : defending marginalised trans rights.

PepeParapluie · 28/06/2024 17:24

@JanefromLondon1 - haven’t read the whole thread yet but have just heard a clip and you absolutely smashed it! Thank you so much you brilliant woman! Will catch up with the thread later when I get home.

@Ereshkigalangcleg ‘most women’.

What evidence do you have to support the contention that most women refuse to accept and respect trans identities?

I’m relieved to say the VAST majority of women I know do not subscribe to that viewpoint.

I’ve only seen it on MN, certainly not in real life.

EwwSprouts · 28/06/2024 17:26

Also just heard the clip. THANK YOU!

DuesToTheDirt · 28/06/2024 17:27

@ActivePeony yes I think you're right. I was listening while kind-of-working..

Inthesummertimewhen · 28/06/2024 17:28

Jane, you're a HERO!!! YOU pinned him down like a barrister... You did what I've been hoping people will do on the big talk shows but haven't.

However unfortunately I think it's crystal clear that he doesn't in any way shape or form actually understand the threat here... He's obsessed with rape and violence ( v good) and he keeps saying referring to that evry time and deflecting.

You really pinned him down it was soooo refreshing to hear.

But at the same time, I ruin we can all see firsthand the frustration that poor rose Duffield has had to deal with.

Patronising, gas lighting Misogyny.

DuesToTheDirt · 28/06/2024 17:29

@JanefromLondon1 bet you didn't expect to get famous Grin

Jane could definitely outgun the two cretins currently stumbling through their own debates in the US - and has outsmarted the lame duck we have running for PM this year - Jane4PM!!!!!!!

💪

As opposed to the absolutely delightful echo chamber that is this thread.

FWIW, I don’t, and I make a point of reading up on both sides of the debate. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn’t make them ‘woke’ (used in the charmingly critical sense you intended), or susceptible to propaganda as other posters have suggested.

Well it appears, given the response on various other social platforms and mainstream media across the globe - it’s a bloody big echo chamber, or could it be that these views are shared by so many across the globe and your local group of friends are out of step?

if you truly are so educated on this issue can you enlighten us on

  1. How do you define “woman”
  2. if the answer to 1. Is anything other than adult female human, how do you protect the safety and dignity of women who were born women from men who, for whatever reason claim they are women.
  3. why do you think the wishes of these men trump the needs of women
  4. How do you protect children in this situation
Thats for starters
Cantquitebelievewhatitscometo · 28/06/2024 17:34

Thank you, Jane. Thank you very, very much.

What’s truly terrifying is how he will say anything he’s told to say by advisors none of us are voting for. He is all script and no conviction.

Devonbabs · 28/06/2024 17:36

Miyagi99 · 28/06/2024 17:26

I’ve only seen it on MN, certainly not in real life.

I have seen it in real life, but so many women have been silenced, by their employer, by schools, by universities. That it’s not surprising if women are too afraid to say what they’re thinking. Witch hunts aren’t confined to the 17th century

Beekeepingmum · 28/06/2024 17:37

ActivePeony · 28/06/2024 17:10

It has been a growing issue and now it is critical. Labour gave us the shitty legislation and it has been taken advantage of by men. Had the LP been in power we would be in a MUCH worse place now. Probably exactly where we are heading tbh.

I completely agree that biological sex is all that matters. Your DNA is fixed XX use female, XY use men, easy - no more complication needed. This isn't a complicated issue. You can't think like a women we are all different. I don't believe that the conservatives will do anything about. There are less than 1% of people who this is relevant too - they need to be put back in their box. We have moved way too far with removing stigmas on some of these things.

TheNuthatch · 28/06/2024 17:38

You were fabulous! KS response was shocking as always. I will never vote for that man! Well done, and thank you

ElleWoods15 · 28/06/2024 17:38

@Devonbabs I’m not running for PM, and I’m not going to answer your questions which are based on the assumption that trans women are men. I think I’ve made it clear I don’t agree with that contention.

I fully agree with you that there needs to be protection for women and girls from predatory men who would seek to abuse. 100 per cent. No argument there.

The difference is I don’t include trans women in my definition of men.
