No one, regardless of gender, should be breastfeeding a child they didn't give birth to! Especially not if that milk is induced through the use of chemicals!

Obviously, exceptions exist, like the policewoman in Cuba (I think) who found an abandoned baby and immediately breastfed it- she is a bloody hero.

Boiledbeetle · 29/03/2024 08:48

"She was moved to tears by the experience, which she said had the added benefit of affirming her female gender and making her breasts larger."

oh yes totally about the baby!!! FFS

Oh, this has absolutely sickened me. Babies are not props to be used to make men feel like women ffs.

What even is this "milk" anyway? A woman's body is designed to make milk tailored specifically for her baby. A man's body can't do that, so what the hell are they actually feeding this tiny baby?

CHEESEY13 · 29/03/2024 10:46

A very, very sick man.

2mummies1baby · 29/03/2024 10:49

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 29/03/2024 07:38

Is this in UK? I can't bear opening the article. If so... THIS is also why service is dying for nhs. Madness like this being funded.

No, it's in the USA.

2mummies1baby · 29/03/2024 10:50

tempnameforadvice · 29/03/2024 07:51

So we have one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world in the UK and this is a priority?? Fuck me.

No, because this isn't in the UK- it's a US study.

Daffsinfeb · 29/03/2024 10:08

Absolutely revolting. Child abuse hidden in plain view. This is literal hell on earth. Wtf.

What @Daffsinfeb said, I had no words but she filled the gaps nicely for me.

Where does it end 🙈

BigPussyEnergy · 29/03/2024 10:42

Ugh FFs.

I remember being so ill while BFing DS2 that I’d lost my voice and had the most horrendous cystitis I’d ever experience. I got XH to pick up some cystitis sachets and drank one immediately- then panicked and phoned NHS direct to check it was ok. They were scathing that I’d selfishly put my own health before that of my baby by ingesting something that could be transferred into my milk. Made me feel like shit and told me to pump and dump for 24 hours and not to take another sachet. Fuckers.

I'm so sorry you went through that! I hope you got better quickly and don't carry any guilt.

Why are women not allowed to priortise their health, if they are not well how are they supposed to care for the baby?

SloaneStreetVandal · 29/03/2024 11:18

The very idea of this is absolutely disgusting - that its been put into practice is beyond comprehension. We're going to hell in a hand cart with this utter bullshit. The pictures have literally made me feel sick.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/03/2024 11:19

He is using the baby to fuel his fetish. Disgusting.

Justcallmebebes · 29/03/2024 11:31

theDudesmummy · 29/03/2024 07:50

I am surprised at all the DM commentators, although very critical of him, still calling him "Granny". He is Grandad ffs. Not Granny. He is a man getting a baby to suck his nipples. And we all know why. He should be arrested.

Edited

I commented on the article in the DM pointing out he was actually the baby's grandfather, not its grandmother. They didn't publish my comment Hmm

littlebox · 29/03/2024 11:36

It did used to be considered completely normal to breastfeed other mothers babies and it still is in some countries. Grandmothers routinely help out with feeding in some societies. So from that point of view, I don't think it's weird. But these are mothers, they have nursed their own children and have milk naturally available. And it's generally done because they are helping to spread the mother's workload or enabling them to work. It's not even normal afaik for women who haven't had their own children to attempt to induce lactation in these circumstances. So to give drugs to a trans grandparent is just bizarre. It feels like all the doctors are having fun pushing the limits of what they can alter through medication with no thought to the fact that the babies have no way to consent to this and we have no idea what the long term effects will be. I don't know how this got past ethics committees.

GiveHerEffervescence · 29/03/2024 11:37

How far will society go to appease men? Sick.

porridgecake · 29/03/2024 11:49

At least it is heartening to see that the thread is over 60 posts in and so far nobody complaining that it should be moved to the naughty corner. This topic has been discussed at length, in detail and with lots of references over there if anyone wants to know more about it.

porridgecake · 29/03/2024 11:53

"Trans women feeding chemical ridden milk to babies - approved by NHS "

Can't do the link, but this is the thread.

GoldenDoor · 29/03/2024 11:53

I read it that the logistics that stopped them was the parents finding out 2 weeks in and withdrawing access to their baby. Even if my mum had a baby and was breast feeding at the same time as me, unless there was a necessity medically or we had pre agreed as I have seen some sisters do, then I presume the parents did not consent to this

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/03/2024 11:57

I don't know how this got past ethics committees.

Assuming it did…. If it was just done by doctors off their own bat maybe it was never even put before one.

However, an ethics committee is only as good as the people in it and if the individuals are captured, within a captured organization such as a university, I can absolutely imagine nobody daring to be the one to speak up about the obvious red flags.

Shock How could they do this without the parents consent? That should get you struck off any medical register surely.

What's annoying about all this is the amount of energy being put into inducing lactation in transwomen but there hasn't been anything like the level of medical interest in more naturally induced lactation for women who adopt. And there is such a lack of mainstream medical interest in female lactation in general!

dontforgetme · 29/03/2024 12:15

@GiveHerEffervescence completely agree, fucking vile.

It's child abuse. Absolutely disgusting.

This.

Giggorata · 29/03/2024 12:21

Sick, abusive, fetishistic, vile, unsafe, unresearched, unhealthy, unethical, unthinkable.

My face has screwed up so much that I resemble a wrung out dishcloth.
Totally revolting.

Fuck, I hope something happens so that they all get their just desserts for this.

^^ First sentence:

Lactation induction in transgender women is a clinical and research priority in the field of breastfeeding medicine

Seriously? That's a priority? Confused

Who on earth is funding this. I hope it's not the NHS or any other body funded by the tax payer.

AngelsandAliens · 29/03/2024 12:31

This makes me sick !!!!! Beyond wrong !
Let me step off this planet.

I didn't read anything to suggest it was done without the parents' consent- unfortunately, I have to assume they colluded with it!

Totally agree that this effort should be going into women who have just given birth but who are struggling to breastfeed.

It's an American study, so not the NHS.
