Is Liz Fraser helping all women or just herself?

1000 replies

Cambridgebunz · 07/11/2023 09:26

Liz Fraser boldly claims across all mediums that she aims to help all women live their best lives. However, there are suggestions, allegations, and evidence to the contrary.

What are your thoughts on the validity of her recent postings in the realm of domestic violence, parenting, mental health, neurodiversity, travel, running, holistic wellbeing and more, as a self-promoted "influencer"?

Keep your thoughts wholesome, relatable and current to her most recent postings. Do not mention ex-partners or her children by name. This discussion is to better understand the objective of and validity behind her “work” and words.

Dear Lee Herbert, she never does anything nice for anyone except herself so don't worry about it. Love TM

SundayNight · 21/11/2023 19:14

“Aren’t they just,” the three children agreed.

Verity44 · 22/11/2023 11:20

Been reading an article this morning about how to spot a narcissist:

  • Every conversation is about them
  • Low threshold for frustration
  • Prickly if given any feedback
  • Shift the blame
  • Lack self awareness
  • Lack the capacity to self-reflect (Ramani Durvasula, Clinical Psychologist)

Just sayin'

Raffington55 · 22/11/2023 13:38

"My words will flow with the canals". 🤢 Do we expect "poet" to be added to Liz's myriad job descriptions on the 20-page insta profile before long? Watch this space!

GinnyWoolf · 22/11/2023 14:43

She already reckons herself to be a poet, hence her famous 'Some people are just c**ts' poem from her last book. Larkin it ain't. Plus I hate it when women bandy that word about.

Physicsrevision · 22/11/2023 15:45

I will leave the experts to reiterate what’s already been said on here about the dangers of celebrities, oh, and people like Liz, whatever her classification, cashing in on (self) diagnoses.

This comment speaks for many.

“I am seeing a lot of this lately and there have been cases where I have felt they have sensationalised and trivialised autism/ADHD and they language and education around this has been very flippant.
It's concerning as we have spent so long advocating to get to this point and we really need prominent voices to be educated and informed in a neuroaffirming way.”

I hope her new man packs a life jacket for his trip to Venice. All that water can be treacherous… and a banana.

Raffington55 · 22/11/2023 21:29

Has she abandoned Scout now then? Off to Venice with a new man for a bit. Scout now shipped off to her father and surplus to requirements. All sounds disturbingly familiar to the treatment meted out to the other three kids when Mike arrived on the scene and the Venice idea was born. Mike's ex said that he never wanted to go to live in Venice right from the outset. Anyway! Lucky Scout next week not having to travel abroad only to fit in with her mother's crazed and obsessive exercising, for the most part squashed into a toddler's buggy. Isn't it funny how Mike is allowed Scout now Liz has a boyfriend. She has demonstrated time and again that she can't be bothered with her kids when there a man/men around.

Mumtobesept2023 · 22/11/2023 23:03

Does this holiday mean she won’t be with the little girl on her birthday? Wow.

her Instagram seems to be stripped of the child too which is quite strange

RhinoRhino · 23/11/2023 08:25

Another Venice holiday? How lovely.

Is that to celebrate the year’s achievements?

Has she written the show?

The novel?

The articles for Italia?

How about the Venice writing retreats? They were to be this year, weren’t they? Did they happen?

And the 26 million steps for abused women? Ticked off in 2023?

What about the Wedgie Submissions guidelines? Due in May, but never appeared.

The podcasts, recorded in a beautiful room above a book shop? Anybody heard them?

How is she getting on with the Business Development job at the Venice hotels?

Or the Salzburg job in the hotel with the massive chandelier, for that matter? I know there was a ball, and a torn dress, and a vid recorded in the service corridor, but not convinced there has been any actual paid work.

How is the NCDV Ambassadorship going? Any women been HELPED by Liz’ involvement in this profit-making limited company? (Nothing wrong with making a profit, but don’t assume that NCDV is a charity – it isn’t.)

How’s the Flying Solo blog/substack/whatever going? Has it delivered on its promises, whatever they were?

Probably forgotten a few, but you get the idea. What the cavalry like to euphemistically describe as ‘living her life performatively’ I see more as delusional nonsense and complete lack of delivery.

Mind you, we’re still on target for the talks in women’s prisons. Sounds very worthy, but the idea reminds me of that scene from Bridget Jones Edge of Reason where the Thai women prisoners are describing their appalling suffering at the hands of their partners, and BJ compares her experience of Mark Darcy not standing up for her at a lawyers’ supper and folding his underpants before he went to bed.

It's not QUITE the same experience …..😂

Raffington55 · 23/11/2023 08:54

@RhinoRhino Oh work schmerk! The MAJOR priority now will be hooking the boyfriend of one week in by showcasing the Venice flat. All her other obligations - family included - can go to hell!

RhinoRhino · 23/11/2023 09:56

@Raffington55 You've burst my bubble! 😂

Raffington55 · 23/11/2023 10:03

@RhinoRhino 😆🙏🏻

Notsolong · 23/11/2023 10:20

One year later, Liz, one year later. Nothing to show. No changes happening. Every second counts for women in abuse situations.

Let me ask a straightforward question Liz, who is trolling who?

‘Someone’ is gaining the trust of domestic abuse victims and then leaving them hanging.

Empty promises are more hurtful than no promises at all. These women are desperate, and you rightly say, you don't want to become that "girl" in the photo again. They still are.

You're correct; you have privilege and you're using this position of power over those who don't have it. #Stopthischarade #Who'strollingwho #IsNCDVfitforpurpose?

Dont flatter yourself Liz. my train to WORK was cancelled giving me time.

One year ego? Talk about Freudian slip - though she knew precisely what she was doing there or she wouldn't have posted it. I love that she seems to think life is rosey and sorted after a week in a relationship. Has she learned nothing?

Tortiemiaw · 23/11/2023 16:04

Is she in Venice now?

Verity44 · 23/11/2023 16:24

@Tortiemiaw

I think she wants us to think so but that is an old pic from when she first moved to Venice. I remember her talking about buying that bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company and her making a thing about the mustard palette of her wardrobe (she had a mustard coat too).

So, who knows?

Intriguedbythis · 23/11/2023 18:12

@Verity44 the mustard palette thing is super cringe. I bet she read it in Grazia / take a break & thought it made herself edgy and took her from Day to Night. She definitely was a fan of the early noughties ‘going out dressed as HR’ vibe..

JoLeTaxi · 23/11/2023 19:04

I find the whole LF thing so intriguing. I have found out about the many skeletons in her closet from this website. I would think it would be difficult for Liz to work as she must have to devote significant time ensuring no skeletons escape. I wonder what her screen time is like each day?

It must be difficult because if she rants about trolls on her social media, it alerts people to their existence. Then it makes them think: 'Why would someone like LF (who was once just slightly well known) have so many persistent trolls?'

I recently watched the Jimmy Saville drama and the Jimmy Saville documentary. People are still appalled about what went on. The rumours that were ignored, the newspaper articles that were pulled at the last minute. It was however the internet and comments e.g. from the girls at that particular school that added weight to the evidence that things with Jimmy were not as they seemed. If we were in the 70's, 80's or 90's there would be no social media so Liz would have no platform, and there would be no way for this type of dialogue to exist. You cannot have one without the other. You cannot have someone acting the way she purportedly has without an online backlash.

Of course LF cannot be compared to JS. She has mostly only hurt her own family. There are parallels however: why the media silence over the man who cannot be named? Why was her reputation protected but not his? Why was a book published that was misleading because it ignored so much truth? Why are only some stories printed in Daily Mail? People in high places have got her back surely?

And if all of the stories on here are lies I wish LF would openly say so. We are all taught now not to take things at face value, to look at both sides of an argument, both sides of a story. So anyone with any sense would read her output and then read the comments here, and make their own mind up where the truth lies.

Verity44 · 23/11/2023 19:47

@Intriguedbythis @Tortiemiaw

And apparently she has had a "perfect day" in Oxford. I re-read her Venice post from earlier and note that she is very careful not to say she is in Venice whilst giving the total impression that she is there: "Every morning I walk to this spot ..." etc.

I just looked up the definition of "gaslighting" again:

"A form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim's mind". They do this to "gain power and control over the other person by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition".

Inasmuch as she is attempting to manipulate and control her followers, is she victimising them by this definition? She certainly has a transactional approach to relationships and I doubt if she consider their feelings - they are there for narcissistic supply. And I doubt if any of the followers she had back when she posted that Venice pic the first time are still following. She has purged them and established a whole new group who don't know any better.

The followers, in my humble opinion, serve to bolster her sense of entitlement and add weight to her narrative. And the gaslighting is a means to that. She did it to me. I always describe it as like being in a film or a TV programme and the viewers are fully aware of the behaviour that is going on and how dangerous the person is but the other actors are oblivious and believe the person. You end up wanting to scream at the screen!!! It makes a person feel dehumanised. And when the person who has done this to you then claims to be an "unsilencer of women" and a "brave warrior for the cause". You think you are going mad.

So @JoLeTaxi some very interesting questions you raise. Why is she so protected from the consequences of her own behaviour and poor life choices? Why is she allowed to monetise situations and re-invent herself? She has certainly aligned herself with organisations like the NCDV and joined the school board of governors in order to lend a veneer of legitimacy to her actions (a la JS). But I think the real answer is she just isn't famous enough for anyone to be bothered so she carries on under the radar.

But thank you @Notsolong @RhinoRhino and all the other ladies who have the resilience to keep coming back and calling this out. It will be heard one day.

thelisad · 23/11/2023 20:41

Anyone able to say when she's flying please? I know it's a small window of opportunity, but I want to take full advantage.

ChiaraRimini · 23/11/2023 21:24

So now Edgeway Press isn't happening is she going to refund the people who gave her money for it?
It's beyond embarrassing that a Cambridge graduate has begged for money under false pretences, repeatedly. (See also Headcase-her idea for a mental health initiative that never existed.
Her family and friends must be mortified.

Tortiemiaw · 23/11/2023 22:00

No, she can't refund the money because it was ALL SPENT on setting up the business, which was DEFINITELY going ahead until the MEAN TROLLS somehow stopped it, and so..er it couldn't. The bad women who want to keep other women SILENCED said bad words and single handedly DESTROYED IT after the HUGE setting up costs.

NOT HER FAULT.
