Hate the term real women have curves

I know this has probably been done to death, but I honestly hate the term 'real women have curves' , only 'dogs like bones' etc etc etc.....i hear and see it everywhere!!!! Another way to body shame women and to make women feel the only relevant thing about them is their body. You'd think this would have died down but I feel its become worse

@lapit why on earth are so many (c cup plain jane endomorphic.... which there's nothing wrong with) women describing your body....?

*have done, then. Ofc I'm not being insulted randomly all the time. It's obvious what I meant. Over a lifetime.

No, there's nothing wrong with that body but it's "average", most women are not curvy goddesses and women who feel insecure wishing they more glam or whatever get a little boost by trying to make us feel bad by comparing us to boys. It's to knock you right down and desexualise you completely. Some imply the only men who'd be attracted must be deviant.

Some women dress it up with feminist language and faux concern over female body image or whatever. They know damn well some women are just built petite.

SheIIy · 05/07/2023 12:25

Small breasts are also nicely sized, just saying

I definitely don't think stick thin with big boobs is the idea anymore anyway. We've moved onto idolising thick girls. It's no better, really. Now we have people dying of BBLs and overeating so they look sexy to men/boys.

SheIIy · 05/07/2023 12:28

@lapit you make some good points. Interesting on mention it's always boys and never girls used as an insult.

I find it so disproportionately spiteful that even though I don't look like a boy, hearing anybody using that insult makes me recoil a bit. It's so venomous

What a load of RUBBISH 😆 I'm willing to bet, if asked, the vast majority of women in the UK at least, would rather be slim than fat.

Usually "good-sized" means "large" but it's not a value judgment. You can have a good-sized pimple or a good-sized pile of dog poop deposited on your lawn. That said, "generously sized" then if you prefer!

I really think the thick idolisation thing is probably a small segment of Tiktok or certain social media platforms. In terms of the real world, mainstream media/advertising, and even the most popular social media (various platforms) influencers, skinny women with boobs are still the most prominent and successful.

PopsicleHustler · 05/07/2023 16:29

@deydododatdodontdeydo my cousin and I heard it on The bill and were laughing our heads off, many years ago.

I say it all the time in the accent, chuckling to myself while my children wonder what am I saying!!!!

No, ‘good sized’ has always meant tear drop or cone shaped, firm and zero sag. It’s why page 3 models were rarely above a DD cup.

Also, most skinny women appear to have big boobs even with A/B cups. So it’s not a reflection of boob size but proportion - and this has always been the case.

Thick doesn’t mean fat. It means big bum / thighs. People from certain ethnicities like me can be naturally thick and toned. White women rarely are.

Beanscene · 05/07/2023 17:03

It's so bizarre that body shapes are a fashion trend.. Its literally the one thing no one can change about themselves. I thought thicc meant big bum boobs and thighs but a tiny waist.

I've spent the last few years losing a third of my body weight. I guess I'm only two-thirds woman now 😆

Not being rude, but you must be older of you think this is a load of rubbish. Thick is popular now. Big bum and thighs with defined waist. Not sure how that's a load of rubbish, nevermind in capital letters.

There's also a difference between slim and skinny. I am skinny, I'm a size 6-8 usually. Slim means average 10-12. Thick is more like 10-16 depending on body type.

That's also slim though really, thick generally means bum, boobs, defined waist and defined features with toned legs and stomach. I wouldn't say someone of those (largely unobtainable) proportions was fat or anything like it.

SheIIy · 05/07/2023 17:41

No, they're not skinny. They're average.

Nobody is calling them dogs or little boys, are they? They're average weight.

Skinny women and larger women are both degraded in society.

BeverlyHa · 05/07/2023 17:42

I cannot believe this is still in use, I think it was the 90's invention

Older than who? I'm 35, so older than 34 and unders, yes.

I think when someone uses 'thick' and 'overeating' in the same sentence, they mean overweight (fat).

And most at a size 12 will not be 'slim.' Note, I say 'most.'

AllOfThemWitches · 05/07/2023 18:57

And 16 is generally fat, not 'thick.'

Eh?
I'm skinny and 32AA I assure you I do not appear to have big boobs!

If you think Emily Ratajkowski, Cara Delevigne, Taylor Swift etc are average weight in Western society, then okay 😅

I'm their size or less (with a much flatter chest!) and I've never been considered average.

Thick generally means thighs and butt though, your upper body and tummy still has to be relatively slim. You still have to be an hourglass (that's heavier on the bottom). Just look at any really popular "thick" Instagram influencer or celeb. That's why some people get fillers and lower body implants that make them look cartoonish.

Equally I would say in terms of visibly mainstream celebs (and that shows in terms of social media popularity too, plus they all mingle with the "thick" celebs still, eg at met gala or casually) most are still totally skinny, with boobs of course

SheIIy · 06/07/2023 09:14

Instagram models and celebrities are not skinny. Nobody calls them bones or not real women.

Fashion models are skinny. They're the ones insulted, told they only exist by starving themselves and only gay men like them. They are the ones told their existence causes anorexia in others.

If Taylor swift is skinny, then maybe that says something about society because she is average weight and build.

Goodness me... My reply was in response to 1 poster nitpicking on my use of the word "nicely sized" because she thought I was calling small boobs ugly. I clarified I just meant "good sized" or "big", and it was not a value judgment. Now here you are nitpicking that you WANT a value judgment, and that small boobs are in fact not a good size. Can't win on here, lol.

Some skinny women do, but equally many skinny women don't. I suspect it's the media image you have in mind as the societal default.

SheIIy · 06/07/2023 09:17

No, nicely sized is a weird way to phrase it. That is a value judgement. That's not a common phrase.

timetablesquare · 06/07/2023 09:18

@SheIIy well as someone who used to be a model during the time we were encouraged to eat cotton wool before weigh-ins, and who has lost some of my friends to anorexia, I don't disagree that a lot of that is from starvation. There are people who are naturally that skinny though, I agree.

Yes, UK society is overweight in general. But I'm not really one for fat shaming any more than I am for skinny shaming.

Yes, I think I got mixed up with good sized. It wasn't meant to be a value judgment. I'll just put "big" then and I hope the pedantic replies will stop.

SheIIy · 06/07/2023 09:21

Ok, fine. Well-sized does come across differently to nicely sized. That makes it sound like everyone aspired to be big.

I wasn't nitpicking, it was a single sentence I made. Presumably you agree that bigger isn't better so no need to fall out over it
