I know this isn't The Royal Family board. I'm not analysing Meghan as I don't know her and she will have no affect on my life. I have become interested in the press and public reaction to her as it feels misogynistic which obviously does affect me.

This is from Jeremy Clarkson today. I feel like is the dark she's and we're hunting witches again.

It was a lunch thrown by Fortnum and Mason, she was just an attendee- along with Clarkson and Morgan.

She seemed rather delighted to dance with journalists from The Sun newspaper though.

It’s a vile article. I wonder what his daughter and partner think of it? Not that I’m in anyway holding them responsible for his words but I’d be disgusted if a male relative of mine wrote similar. Does he not think of them when he wrote this. He’d be furious if someone wrote similar about them.

Quite! I’m not a Meghan fan, but nobody can doubt she was genuinely treated appallingly by the press even before this. Blaming her for Harry’s decisions is absolute misogyny. And blaming Camilla for being at a (200 guest) lunch also attended by Clarkson is another example. She shouldn’t attend events in case there’s a misogynistic journalist there?! She’d never attend anything if that was the rule. And the King is the head of the royal family, so whatever their collective response to M&H’s treatment by the media it is HIM in charge of it. Probably with the Prince of Wales as an advisor (as he himself was advisor to his mother when he was PoW).

I’m surprised how many people are surprised it was published though. People from Merseyside have been saying for decades: don’t buy the Sun!

No. At events like this it is pretty standard for the host to secure one or two particularly big name guests then use them to encourage other people to attend. The big name is not the host but is an important draw card.

I’ve noticed that when people talk about MM, online or irl, many start with “I don’t like her, but”, more than I’ve seen with any other public person. I wonder why?

MM is an actress, she hasn’t been groomed since birth to be a royal woman, ready to shrink into the background when protocol dictates, be seen and not heard.
She has been brought into an outdated, toxic institution and is expected to behave like a perfect royal princess. With the media against her, and if rumours are true, with many of the RF against her. I mean, even Andrew isn’t hounded like MM is, and he’s literally a paedophile - American actress is less popular than a white male paedophile, who’d have thought it!

Isn’t it quite telling that this is largely a misogyny-accepting society, and JC’s disgusting comments are an extension of that (I have reported him as well). I don’t understand the Prince Andrew comparison. He doesn’t have a 6 part series on Netflix right now which gets pushed at you when you turn on your tv and in your email inbox. If he did I am sure there would be a lot more threads about him.
I bet if you asked people ‘who is worse, Andrew or Meghan?’ it would only be the Clarkson types that said Meghan.
