Jeremy Clarkson article about Meghan

I know this isn't The Royal Family board. I'm not analysing Meghan as I don't know her and she will have no affect on my life. I have become interested in the press and public reaction to her as it feels misogynistic which obviously does affect me.

This is from Jeremy Clarkson today. I feel like is the dark she's and we're hunting witches again.

Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level. However, to be fair, it is a rather misleading headline and now with the awful JC comments it puts Camilla in a position I'm sure she doesn't want to be in.

Ok, PA not a paedophile, but was found to have had sex with a minor, entanglements with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and the Queen poured millions into the case to make it go away.

Whilst this has been discussed, it’s raised nowhere near the vitriol that MM receives every time her name is mentioned. It’s not that people will specifically be asked “who’s worse”, but the evidence available to us, the numbers of chat threads all about hating MM, the media articles, all are disproportionately against MM, probably deliberately.

I have Netflix, it’s no more pushed in my face than any other new Netflix series, and it’s more than possible to ignore it and delete emails.

She doesn’t fit the acceptable mould of British Royal, but that doesn’t mean she deserves this level of hate. JC is bringing in his own revolting style of commentary, knowing that much of the British public are lapping it up. He should be harmed for this - not physically obviously, but in lack of revenue because he’s gone too far, but I’m willing to bet this will barely affect him.

PA is a creepy slimeball who had sex with at least one trafficked teenager. He’s not okay in any way, and it is really unfair to compare Meghan to him. I’m glad the late Queen stripped him of titles and duties, and hope we never hear from him again.

There are lots of threads on Harry and Meghan because of the documentary and because his book is being advertised at the moment. They wanted the publicity and therefore cannot be surprised that they are being discussed. Some of the hatred for her in particular is quite shocking though.

This is not a royal family thread - there are others to discuss that. I never read anything by Clarkson because I'm not interested in him. So to complain I'd either need to read it - what he and the publishers want, not going there - or I need to know what to say.

I’ve noticed that when people talk about MM, online or irl, many start with “I don’t like her, but”, more than I’ve seen with any other public person. I wonder why?

MM is an actress, she hasn’t been groomed since birth to be a royal woman, ready to shrink into the background when protocol dictates, be seen and not heard.
She has been brought into an outdated, toxic institution and is expected to behave like a perfect royal princess. With the media against her, and if rumours are true, with many of the RF against her. I mean, even Andrew isn’t hounded like MM is, and he’s literally a paedophile - American actress is less popular than a white male paedophile, who’d have thought it!

Isn’t it quite telling that this is largely a misogyny-accepting society, and JC’s disgusting comments are an extension of that (I have reported him as well). He and Piers Morgan will carry on being the misogynist twatbags they are because so many of the population agree with them, whether it’s acceptable to say or not.

So many men thrive on wanting to punish women. Particularly women who aren’t afraid of being heard.

Well said, although I'd add that JC's comments also reflect the racism that is still widespread in our society, not just misogyny.

I don’t understand the Prince Andrew comparison. He doesn’t have a 6 part series on Netflix right now which gets pushed at you when you turn on your tv and in your email inbox. If he did I am sure there would be a lot more threads about him.
I bet if you asked people ‘who is worse, Andrew or Meghan?’ it would only be the Clarkson types that said Meghan.

Netflix aren't pushing it any more than they push any of their other major releases.

What Jeremy Clarkson wrote in that article was completely vile and I don’t think his so called apology on twitter makes it ok either.

Of course he is. No publicity is bad publicity. Many people hate MM so much that anything anyone says against her is gleefully welcomed.
