Jeremy Clarkson article about Meghan

I know this isn't The Royal Family board. I'm not analysing Meghan as I don't know her and she will have no affect on my life. I have become interested in the press and public reaction to her as it feels misogynistic which obviously does affect me.

This is from Jeremy Clarkson today. I feel like is the dark she's and we're hunting witches again.

Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level. At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her. Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”

Complained and would urge others to do so too. It's not about "standing by Meghan" (although actually articles like this make me think maybe she needs the public to have her back a bit more) but standing by the treatment of women in mainstream media. Sickening.

Ever wonder what kind of man would hate women so much he would rape and strangle them? Here’s one in plain sight.

I am the last person on earth to stand up for Clarkson, but there seems to be a huge blind spot where people take literally what is clearly satire.

Meanwhile, the other day in Belgium, misogynist men were actually literally throwing excrement at women.

Camilla is involved in several projects to end violence against women. Meghan is her DIL. The fact that Piers Morgan was even invited and Jeremy Clarkson felt able to come and then publish this piece the day after is astonishing to me.

Absolutely.
I am shocked

I don't see the satire. I see a man who does not expect any comeback professionally or socially when he writes the most appallingly violent revolting things about a woman.

The fact he is able to do so and it can go into a national publication without anyone (pre publication) saying 'hang on a minute' tells me that women truly are deeply hated- for being women- in society.

And I am a person who thinks MM is a narcassistic self absorbed piece of work- but clarkson's paragraph about her is completely indefensible.

I think the blind spot seems to be the lack of understanding that even if the person who wrote it meant it as satire, this will still encourage some men to do stuff like what's happening in Belgium, because there are articles in the mainstream press normalising it

Please don’t give this horrible man more of a platform. The more internet ‘controversy’ he generates through people creating threads like yours, the more he gets paid. He has no interest in Meghan or the royals, he’s just trying to raise his own profile by spreading hate and you are helping him. 🤦‍♀️

The more VAWG gets normalised and minimised, the safer men feel in doing what the fuck they want

@BlackForestCake the two things are undeniably linked. Men need shaming and ostracising for both talk and action

I know what you mean and usually I would agree. However , in this case I think that the condemnation of that article is important. He went too far. Let us not downplay how powerful the press is . A so called ‘satirical’ piece which objectifies women only has to be read by one sexual deviant who will take the trashy article seriously
Women need to make a stand in order to ensure that articles such as this are condemned and the writer brought to book

I reported it under harassment.

I reported under discrimination and then wrote down hateful - he is pretty clear in his reference to her as a woman and the hate he feels for her.

I've just told DH that I'm boycotting Clarkson. I read the passage, he agreed it 'wasn't very nice'. I pointed out that he equated Nicola (who I don't like) with a serial killer and said that Meghan was worse than both. Again, 'not very nice'. I explained that the misogyny was off the scale and that if another group were referenced in that way, that targeting women and girls is so ubiquitous ...

and suddenly he noticed that it was three women being smeared, and that the desired punishment was actually hugely sexist as well.

He really didn't see it until it was elaborated.

I dont undersatnd the ‘satire’ defence? I wonder if any other Royal woman’s name was added instead of MM would it still be seen as ‘satire’ by these posters.

Apparently in the other thread someone has reported it to The Met and was told she wasn't the only one.

JC is and always has been a misogynist. How fitting it would be if this was the text that got misogyny made a hate crime.

He needs to keep his sick fantasies to himself. Although on second thoughts it's probably a good think we know quite how sick he is.
