Why don’t you join the WI?

Wtafis · 02/12/2022 12:56

The WI are asking non members why they haven’t joined.

I know people here don’t agreed with their gender diversity policy so thought it was a good opportunity to feed ib

I’ve just done it 😀😀

Maxaluna · 02/12/2022 16:32

Done, thanks

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 02/12/2022 16:33

I wanted to join the WI but mine are literally members who are 70 years +.

There needs to be more for younger people.

TheYummyPatler · 02/12/2022 16:43

I got to the long description of the WI and the yes/no response to ‘based on this description would you join?’ and gave up.

I literally cannot be bothered with poorly designed surveys that guide you into meaningless responses that tell them nothing meaningful.

Catnuzzle · 02/12/2022 16:50

Done. Hate the phrase 'all women'. Just women. When anyone say 'all women' you know they're including the male kind of women.

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 02/12/2022 16:50

My mum is in WI and I've been to the art class they run each week in the village. Yes everyone was at least 20-30 years older than me except one person but it was good fun. The ladies were so naughty and are there for tea and cake. I actually really enjoyed a couple of hours not on my phone and just doing something creative.

My mum always seems to really enjoy it.

JessicaBrassica · 02/12/2022 16:51

Ours meets at 2 pm on a week day.

bestbefore · 02/12/2022 16:53

Ours is all people my mums age and again they meet 2pm on a weekday!
I speak to the lady who runs it a lot and never once has she said "come along"!! They can't be that desperate!

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 02/12/2022 16:57

They are desperate as their members (don't mean this horribly) are getting less and less. I think it being for older women and them being quite clicky puts people off.

There's one by me who set a WI up for younger women who meet up from 7-9 but sadly 45 minute drive away Sad

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/12/2022 17:02

Oh that felt good. Thank you. Load of disingenuous manipulative twaddle.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 02/12/2022 17:04

Done, thank you. I would really like to join my local one, but they've just had a lecture about gender inclusivity which has totally put me off. The advert in the village newsletter was all 'be kind' and I don't feel like being kind about men in women's groups.

Spanielsarepainless · 02/12/2022 17:07

Entirely because of their stance on sex and gender. I want to spend my evening socialising with women, not people who are biological men. I was hounded out of my WI over this.

tootiredtobother · 02/12/2022 17:14

done, but did manage to choose 'Other' on one of the questions and put TWAW i do not agree

tootiredtobother · 02/12/2022 17:15

Im tempted to join my local one to see if there are any trans, be a spy on the inside

Bowednotbroken · 02/12/2022 17:26

Done. Thanks for the opportunity! I even offered to join a focus group but no doubt wanting a women-only organisation rules me out!!

Ohhhhladz · 02/12/2022 17:31

Why would it matter if there were any "trans" (I assume you mean people, not fat or Siberian Express)? The issue is that it's for women, not for men.

UnderPowered · 02/12/2022 17:35

Does anyone have a link to the relevant policy that's been mentioned above? Thanks.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 02/12/2022 17:39

Responded and given my thoughts, thanks for the link.

I was a member of a local WI a few years ago (helped set it up in fact), we were one of the younger urban WI's when it was sort of fashionable. As a committee we found it a lot of work organising the meetings and the procedures of the national organisation were incredibly bureaucratic, lots of paperwork, everything had to be paid by cheque. We folded after a few years as it was just too much work alongside work and family.

I wouldn't want to pay membership now for an organisation that is no longer single sex.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 02/12/2022 17:40

I've said I wot join because it's for women and men

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 02/12/2022 17:40

*won't

Pyjamageddon · 02/12/2022 18:00

Done, and forwarded to another woman. Thanks.

Somanysocks · 02/12/2022 18:01

I notice that the word transwomen doesn't appear until near the end of the survey.

Completed it unambiguously.

Yerroblemom1923 · 02/12/2022 18:04

Because I'm under 60, not religious and don't make a lot of jam.

Wtafis · 02/12/2022 18:04

To be fair there can only be younger members of younger people join.

I am a member and I’m in my mid thirties, but I’m the youngest in my group by 20 years
